Axis Operations - 1943 is coming soon

Post by MarcoT. »

Today we have a great announcement for you.

We're announcing the next Axis Operations DLC for Panzer Corps 2: 1943

The Axis Operations 1943 DLC Campaign focuses entirely on the Eastern Front. But more importantly, this DLC begin to answer long standing questions of the series, culminating in the possibility to permanently alter the course of the war in this campaign... and also in future campaigns to come!

In addition to the continuing trend of bonus mission objectives inspired by true historical events, this campaign will be supplemented by appearances from additional historical German leaders from World War II.

As no 1942 campaign could be complete without Stalingrad, no 1943 campaign can overlook the infamous Battle of Kursk.
Engage in a unique take on this battle, often touted as the Largest Tank Battle in History, as you pit your Wehrmacht veterans against the seemingly endless lines of Soviet defenses protecting their salient.

Axis Operations 1943 will be released later this spring. We will be revealing the release date in the coming weeks.

If you would like to sign up for the beta, you can do so by clicking here. Your feedback is extremely valuable, and it will help us greatly.

Looking through the screenshots there are some interesting "spoilers" for what we will see. Really looking forward to it.

Some observations...

"Kummersdorf 43" strongly suggests another training scenario

From the description, it appears both pathways, ahistorical and historical, are contained in the same DLC. That makes me believe that the actual playable path is rather short, though it is hard to know exactly how long at this quick glance at the scenario list. I am guessing at some point you are giving a different path depending on how you chose to finish AO42, or more specifically, the final Stalingrad scenarios.

My best guess is that everyone plays the same beginning scenarios and the decisive moment where the pathways fork occur during the Kursk offensive. The remaining scenarios are divided between the two different forks thereafter.

At the one Screenshot, you can see the training Scenario and a new Special Hero

i think the Campaign will be the same for both Paths, maybe we get some more special Tokens at some Maps, so we can reach Mission Goals Easier like trough a AI Friend who joind the battle at turn x or the ai Friend had more and bether units. Like we saved the 6. Army and now they fight with Units with have more XP, because we saved the veterans and they dont have to fight with complete untrained Men. An Other example can be, more or other Mission Goals who only shows if we have this or this token so we can get more CP for Special Events, which we can use to start at one final scenario more special Events which leads to the alt history Path.

Take a look at the text "behind" the hero. That's what's exciting!

I believe adiekmann is right, it appears that the line forks at Kursk. The "Elista", "Astrakhan", "Return to Stalingrad", and "Orel" scenarios are all ahistorical.

Hi Baron,

do you think it is a Skoda? To me It looks rather like a VK 30.01 D - but it is not really good to see.

But what are these 25-stronk Infantry with greyish greatcoats and blue facings? Some kind of Schuma-Bataillons? Hiwis? Vlassow-units? They use the modell of early war Soviet Conscripts...

From new units I saw an Ferdinand, Panther, Tiger, StuG IV and the Me 262...

I wonder if they are the 1943 upgrade to the Azuls

And a Azul 43 does exist in unit file, with its own model...

These units may be new in the campaign but don’t seem new in the game.
