Cavalry fallback

Post by tyronec »

I had this come up in a game today.
The cavalry marked with the red X are in combat with the three infantry units marked with blue X's.
During the playback the cavalry fell back after combat with just one of the enemy units. There was no combat with the other two.

Is this right, I thought if a unit was in combat with two units that are at right angles to each other then it couldn't fall back - so it is in melee with one CB unit and the other CB unit is at right angles to the first one.
Am guessing that somehow it is just counting as being in melee with the archers which would make the fall back valid.

Apologies that the pic is not great, I had to take the snapshot during the playback move.

None of its close combat opponents are more than 45 degrees from its current facing, so it can break off.

If any were, it couldn't.
