As you can see the field was very open, i had tried to place another two difficult hills but both were removed.

This shows the Bmen right wing, the hut is the army camp.

The Beastmen battle plan was to deploy the catafracts and cavalry on the right wing , and sweep round the flank.

The Alliance battle plan was to pivot from their left flank ,anchoring on a wizards tower (Impassable terrain).

So much for the Beastmens plan !

The Alliance pivots, holding the line.

Image

The Rohan and eagles are below the camera ,so are out of shot.
They exchanged a few shots, the eagles passed over them and headed for the enemy baseline. They then wheeled toward the enemy centre.

On the Bmen right flank , the Catafracts wheeled tightly and ran along behind the LF.

Image

The Catafracts turned sharp right and lined up with the goat folk axeman.

A great deal of shooting had produced a few disordered results but these were quickly sorted by the Generals.

Around this point Gandalf conjured a monster on the Catafract right flank, but it was banished by the Sorceress.

My apologies for the delay.

One of the main reasons for which is i have no pictures of the main incidents in the battle.

It all happened so fast , we forgot to take pictures.

I know... i should have checked the pictures before starting to post. Hindsight is a great thing.

So , the focus point in the battle was the Catafracts manouvering along behind the skirmish line, and attempting to plow into the Gondor bowmen, and punch a hole in the line.

(The Frog spearmen were coming up on their right to support. )

Gandalfs BG got very slightly in the way of the Centaurs, but enough in the way, i hesitated about charging the HF with only 1 base of catafracts and next turn Gandalf led an attack on the Centaurs !

The centaurs had the advantage, but i scored no hits, and failed the CMT, in the melee the frogfolk joined the fight.
I scored , i think 1 hit with all the dice!
The frogfolk lost a base and disrupted, and the Centaurs fragmented.

We forgot to break off with the Centaurs

Next round the centaurs held , the frogfolk lost 2 bases .

We remembered to break off the Centaurs, and when the frogfolk were removed at auto destruct ,the centaurs failed the CMT and broke.

Meanwhile on the left flank, The Goat Axemen broke the Elf Bowmen but were then routed by the Elf Swordsmen.

The Crow folk were on the extreme left wing on my base edge in column, again i rolled badly and was fragmented by a cavalry BG also in column. The victorious Elf Swordsmen approached the Crows open flank.

Image

Here you can see the routing Goat Axemen, With the Sorceress and her Elite LF (probably glad they are LF :) ), left facing Gandalf and the Elf Superswordsmen.

In the distance you can see the routing Elf Bowmen heading over the hill.

Other things to note, the minis tirith swordsmen behind Gandalf, and just in shot (pardon the pun), two bowmen BG chasing the Giant eagles.

Here is a top down view from the Human/Elf side.

You can see the Gondor HF defensive spearmen on the run (3 orange D8 show they are broken), they were broken by the combined shooting of the cavalry and artillery. The Red Yuan Ti LF are moving up in support.

The broken Centaurs are now almost at the base edge and the Frogfolk have been removed from the table.

Image

This shows the end .

The Beastmen core combat units were the Catafracts and 3 HF BG (Goats with axe/ Frog with spear/ Crow swordsmen)

With three gone and the fourth fragged and flanked , it was over as a contest.

Nice report Zellak!!!

Thanks for sharing, how did the flying rules feel in this game? I see the magic didnt amount to much, not a bad thing.

Im overseas at the moment but when I get back I might try and get one of my friends "Looks over shoulder" who I use to play GW (Dont sue me for copyright) games with to play out a fantasy FOG game. Most likely lord of the rings as I painted my 6mm pikemen as Uruk's with the white hand on them.

Thanks for the reply. :)

Flying LH are a weak trooptype to pay double points for , however this is probably more because of the restricted turning rules we have been using.

The acid test would be paying for flying cavalry (and paying double points) .
To see if they were overpowered while using the restricted turning rules. ?????

So are you using warmaster stuff for your games ?

With unusual and new rules its normaly best to be cautious.

No, I have some 6mm ancients but at that awesome scale it doesnt really matter.

My friend might be interested in giving FOG a go if we play something fantasy, im not sure if the other guys I play against would fancy trying out the fantasy side of FOG.
