The Pontic left flank died valiantly delaying the Romans while the stars of the show were the cavalry on the right, sweeping aside the Roman horse they left their light horse to whittle down the Triarii and crashed into the sides and rear of the Roman centre. Thanks for the game

Division D

Kroche (Pontic 110-85BC) defeated Blagrot (Roman 199-106BC) 49-22

2 patches of rough in the centre ground split each force. The Pontic left engaged the Romans in a melee which turned into a grind and battle of wills eventually won by the Pontics. The rough ground on the right was occupied by Pontic medium infantry which hindered the Romans from bringing their full centre against the Pontic line there. Pontic cavalry avoided a full confrontation early on and managed to find some gaps to aid their heavy infantry vs the resolute Romans. 2 good matches with Blagrot and honours even (2 wins for Pontic).

Thanks to tyronec for organising a very enjoyable (and tough)! tournament.

The updated ratings were calculated as follows:
Score * (opponents rating + 5), averaged over the 10 games and then divided by 100. This gave a 10% inflation in players ratings overall.
Hope everybody enjoyed the games.

I do propose running a season 2, will likely start after the TDC finishes - so will post for entries a few weeks prior to that.
Am thinking to do the same format with two periods, Classical Antiquity (600 BC to 0) and a Medieval period to take in the latest DLC.
Players will use their ranking from Season 1 and will slot in new entries using the DL or other results.
Any suggestions are welcome.
