SAMURAI CASTLE AND CAMP

Post by sergiomonteleone »

Hi there,
I’ve realized there are many FOG players interested in Samurai Army.

If someone is interested in buying a Samurai castle can visit this website:

http://www.stronghold-miniatures.co.uk/

I bought a castle for 15mm, in my opinion is not very well sculptured but I’ve made a lot of researches and I’ve found only this manufacturer for 15mm.

Nevertheless I’ve also bought (on eBay) some castles from FUJIMI very cheap and easy to build

and one from DOYUSHA, very cheap and already built (scale 1:350)

On the same website http://www.stronghold-miniatures.co.uk/ you can find also materials for Samurai camps (15mm).

This one with Eureka miniatures:

This one with Essex and Old Glory figures:

There are hundreds of card models available. (well dozens that are Samurai castles). Most are close to the ground scale of the game.

I think they look great.
I like these better than a cardstock model any day of the week! Plus where are the sites for cardstock castles? I need one as a basis for a 28mm Siege I have planned for 1600.

I'd try http://www.papermodels.net/ first, they have a vast range. Browse the catalogue ...

Companies like http://japanese-model-supplies.com/ import them. They have the Fujimi range as well.

This enthusiast has free plans you could download and links. http://www.geocities.com/sou_tw/
You ofthen find card models at model railway shops and shows.

Thanks for the links but 2 of them I have already been over and the 3rd has mostly Railroad stuff for Japan.

Since I own 3 of the 5 John Jenkins 28mm buildings I am thinking of down scaling my siege and buying his walled section he sells to go around the temple and use it as a assualt on a fort instead of a castle. With all those Perry figures and Jenkins buildings it should still loo pretty good.

Even if I'm used to play with 15mm, me toot I have some buildings from John Jenkins (for collection) and also some Chinese and Samurai 28mm figures.
John Jenkins buildings are great and well sculputerd, better than stronghold ones.
Samurai from Perry are the best ones for 28mm.
Did you buy some Samurais from Zvezda, scale 1/ 72? In my opinion they are welle made like Perry ones.

My army whoch is build around 1600 is 90% perry 10% Kingsford (really good figures from Canada) and 10% Dixion/Old Glory. rounds out to about 400 figs. My secret squirrel goal is to get Perry's Korean figures and do the Imjin wars. Since people seem to want to use the wrong figures for Samurai using Japanes buildings in Korea and doing a big ass Siege with the Koreans defending would look cool and be impressive. Mind you I an thinking it would cost about $250.00 of Koreans to start.

Never tried getting any of the Russian figures. I thought they made a castle but can't find it. In 1/76 it would be a bit small but make a good backdrop or Victory objective. I like there Diaymo set. But they are a wee bit small. They make a new hard plastic line of figures in 28mm that would work for the Great Italian wars/Condotta. But for some reason I can't find them on this side of the pond.

Fantastic Castles and camps
I had o intention of building an Asian army - except maybe Genghis horse boys BUT that castle alone would look so cool as a camp - if you could cut it down some.
I love this HOBBY
