Re: Revolting peasants - team event 2022 - Round One
I have but a moment to send this dispatch while changing horses and partaking of a much needed plate of venison goulasj. Alas, the revolting (in more ways than one) peasants under their general Smith have unbelievably succeeded in worsting the army of their nobles and betters. A grievous blow to the natural order of things and a sad day for Hungary.

Congratulations to our village blacksmith who has shown his metal! The honorific entitlements committee of the Hungarian anarcho-syndicalist commune has deemed it appropriate to honor your effort with a medal of valour. As with previous medals, you have the honour of casting it. It may be advisable to reconsider using cast iron. Bob, the carpenter, after his recent success on the field, now seems to have a permanent stoop from wearing his cast iron merit badge.

Gentlemen,
I am honoured to announce that the minor confrontation with a very small group of disaffected peasants has been dealt with promptly, and with great severity, so as to forestall any future thoughts of insurrection. Calm has been restored throughout the region, and life will quickly return to normal.
Awesum4 (26%) beat warrior230 (52%). In a battle that was very close (less than 1% difference) for a very long time. The battle field had a couple of large forests which broke up his pike blocks. I managed to take out the units occupying the forests with my massed arquebus and light foot. I had 3 guns on the base line supporting massed shooting from hussars of both sorts and light foot, while I held back my pike and gendarmes. It was only after he was very spread out and his units were breaking from shooting that my heavy units advanced and managed to concentrate on only a few of his pike units. A fun game that I was convinced was going to end up a draw until the last few turns.

Congratulations on an excellent game, and well played! Good fun throughout.
I doubt though that the greater cause will be put off by the minor set-back! Extra drill training is being implemented as we speak
We'll be back!!

I remember such a day, a day of clay feet and great falls, and oh do the great fall from a mighty height indeed.
Falling not being a concern for we beasts of the field, a field where our flag still flies.

Long live the Fighters!

I'm sure we'll soon have all the round one results and we'll see if our peasant armies have taken the round. Meanwhile...

Gavin, I think we are waiting for results from the following three games:
Kiwiwarlord v GentlemanRanker
Markleslie v snooky51
Lascar v KerryD
Of course, I may have missed something and am happy to be corrected.

Ahh, I had the impression bragging took precedence over the nitty gritty of weighing and measuring performance.
These are the last percentages I saw before the game ended. Sooo, probably correct.
Hungarian Peasants troops routed 25% defeated the establishment Hungarian-Bohemian troops routed 50%.

Re: Revolting peasants - team event 2022 - Round One
Indeed, it does in my book. But we should also mourn the loss of our fallen and celebrate the nobles we have put to the pitchfork. Moreover, our commune bookkeeper Lettie Getfiscal (the village idiot) is a real fastidious bean keeper at his village Tax Shelter. He's now demanding a record of types and quantity of wounds to determine whether pitchforks are cost-effective, and the collective weight of dead horses for redistribution among the villagers. When we told him that's unlikely as the village has been vegetarian since it was illegal to hunt the royal deer, he blew his top. Then he proceeded juggling the books for days, and ranting on about how it's a good skill when our peasant rebellion fails because he'll be forced to attend court again. We've since employed another bookkeeper and told him the committee has left the information in the corner of his round hovel.

No worries Alan, Particularly as the new medieval DLC is providing great sport for me at the moment. Check out those bombards, hand gunners and light guns. It's like Christmas at Hamleys!

The committee is thinking of renaming our village to Herceghalom Pile of princes and building a large hovel for singing and dancing to honour of our stunning victories and those inevitable outstanding peasant victories. We'll have crystals from captured princely crowns suspended alongside flickering candles that spin around, which illuminates the straw floor.

It is odd, given the all the vainglorious boasting that we have had to endure in this thread, that KiwiWarlord neglected to mention that the perfidious uprising of his peasant horde has succeeded in murdering their enlightened and beneficent aristocracy, thereby overthrowing God’s natural order:
KIwiWarlord ‘s filthy peasants beat GentlemanRanker’s brave but outnumbered nobility by 62 to 54.
I will draw a veil over the painful details, save only to remark that his failure to crow about this “victory” can only be due his burgeoning horror as he contemplates his shame.

Re: Revolting peasants - team event 2022 - Round One
The Revolting Peasants Round 1 Result
The Revolting, very shameful, Peasant Kiwiwarlord ( 54% ) narrowly beat The Imperialist, Gods natural Aristocrat, GentlemanRanker ( 62% )
A hard fought game that went for 20 moves.
The Peasants formed up with most of the rubbish, Spearmen, Foresters, Raw Keils on the hill ( top left of Result Screen Shot ) whilst the better quality Keils formed the Centre out to the large wood ( not visible ) to the right of the hill. The woods were stacked with Peasant Mobs, Szekler archers & Arquebusiers.
The Imperialists advanced a large force of foot ( many hidden in a large wood ) & Cavalry and attacked the Peasants on the hill. The Peasants defended as best they could but were totally over run & routed. Meantime the Imperialists moved many troops to the hill side of the big Rough patch in the Centre allowing the Peasants to cut off several Cavalry & Light Horse of which most were destroyed by being cut off and swamped from all directions.
The battle was played out in the Centre in and around the large Rough area where casualties on both sides were heavy.
Move 19 saw many Routs and Fragged units on both sides, I was expecting to see a Draw with both sides over 60% or an Imperialist Win on move 20.
Surprise, surprise some fragged Peasants held and some Imperialists Routed.
Nick played like the Master that he is but being outnumbered by 24,000 fired up Peasants made it very difficult indeed.
The Peasants, totally worn out & recovering from the brutal experience of beating up their Masters, were unable to 'crow' for some days.

Re: Revolting peasants - team event 2022 - Round One
While the committee has banned overly specific nicknames, congratulations to Brian the extremely lucky the peasants were either too dull-witted or scared to run. However, our spies at Nick's castle have reported more truth behind their poor showing. Rye Porter from No.53 Hideaway Hovel, our resident sneak, recently sent us this drawing...
