To add to this, they practised the art of head elongation and they often filed their teeth into razor like blades and painted them black. This naturally, gave them an alltogether alien like appearance!

Proportions and anatomy in those concepts seems completely off. Either that or those are child warriors. Otherwise their heads are massive compared to their bodies. A body from the neck down should be 6, 7 heads tall for an adult. Those concepts look around 3, 4 heads tall. Were they all dwarves?

So, will there be alternate lists for the major different North American indigens? I don't understand why every South/Central American subculture has been broken out by family group, but all of North America gets lumped together. For instance, there are big differences between Navajo and Souix.

Well it depends what you mean by ancient. Olmec starts 1150BC and many of the lists could have been earlier than they are but for lack of evidence of substantial armies. I guess whether you find them interesting or not is a personal thing. Personally I like the history, 'uniforms' and weapons systems.

They'll be interesting armies on the table top and stronger than they were in DBM, if not the supermen of 7th edition. Some will get MF with javelins as well as impact/melee weapons to reflect the atlatl. Not a great advantage but it is a free weapon.

Actually, Graham, it's entirely possible that the nightmare of list cheese they were under 7th is part of why I don't find them appealing.

However, despite their admittedly being colourful, I have never found the South American armies interesting, even in Renaissance rule sets, and that particular disinterest dates from well before 7th - probably when we were using 4th or 5th, and just trying out the new Gush Renaissance rules from WRG.

I do recall a joke from when the Aztec range first appeared on MiniFigs new releases list:

"What's an Aztec Clubman?" a customer asked me.

"A Mini Clubman with South American number plates", I answered...
