The Panzer Corps 2 - World Championship moves into the sixth round today.
Returning to the classic campaign, this round we have a multiplayer re-imagining of a classic map: The Battle for Kasserine Pass. This battle should have been an easy victory for the Allied forces, but poor leadership and green troopers led to vastly more losses than anyone expected. Of course, for multiplayer the forces have been carefully tweaked to give both sides a fighting chance.
Will you be able to alter history?
Leaderboard
In leaderboard news, Kleko11 has finally been unseated from the top of the leaderboard, but only barely. Trepko has now taken the lead, but less than 300 points keeps him there. This round will definitely decide the fate of one of these two excellent players.
It's not as if those giving chase are that far behind either...
Round 6 leader board:
1 Trepko 13549
2 kleko11 13257
3 FritzchenEK-I 12443
4 nutoha 12009
5 rishat 11678
Continued improvements
We have fixed a few errors in scoring that occurred during the last round. Please do continue to report any problems you face, as your feedback helps improve not just this tournament but all future ones as well.
Patch 1.2.4 has come about primarily due to your tournament feedback and includes these fixes:
- Fixed occasional crashes when assigning heroes
- Fixed problems with awarding tournament points at the end of a mission
We hope everyone is continuing to enjoy the competition at this mid-way point.

Re: The Panzer Corps 2 - World Championship moves into the sixth round today
I don't want to start an online dirge of negative comments - but while I am enjoying my matches in this the scoring system has me seriously disillusioned. My round 5 score bears no resemblance to the reality of my games - my German game alone where I stood on over 1100 points in game with a couple of turns to go, virtually exceeds the end total I was given for both games combined. I won both matches clearly, and ended up with 1599 points? That's just a joke. My opponent who lost both games got 1250. It is a nonsense. I am still playing because the gameplay and the scenarios are fun, but if this is ever run again as a world championship then the scoring system needs very careful examination. There are players at the top of the leaderboard who have scored over 3500 points in round 5. As German player I held all the objectives and wiped out all Russian units east of the river and had destroyed some to the west too. As Russian player I took all hexes and destroyed a lot of German units by turn 13. How does a gap between 1500 and 3500 get explained in that context?
Both my games crashed after the end of turn 15 by the way - had to do a hard shut down to turn the game off.
Significantly disgruntled about scoring, and wondering how on earth the end score was calculated. I'm sure the last time I checked the cumulative scores I was higher than my end score given.
Catacol.

The scenarios are very well done and varied.
Nevertheless, it would also be good if there were games where both players are attackers and not just the attacker vs. defender scheme.
But as I said, the scenarios themselves were very nice!
Maybe it would be worth considering using a scoring system like in football in the future. Win = 3 points, Draw = 1 point, Loss = 0 points. The victory hexes are then virtually the goal difference. Why not like this? That would be easy and manageable.

Re: The Panzer Corps 2 - World Championship moves into the sixth round today
This round as UK I have bought 10 bombers with overstrenght. However, in my game, all turns but 1 have been cloudy, making my bombers a very bad investment. Is this normal for this map? How does the RNG for weather works, is it predetermined at game start or each round?
Btw, weather differences between games makes it for an uneven fight. If possible, for tournament games, I would recommend in the future that weather be predetermined at map level so that all players have the same experience.

In theory that is a great idea, but in practice some players might learn the weather progression from other players. Having both games within a match have the same weather would be a good solution without any obvious downside.kissofpain wrote: ↑Wed Feb 09, 2022 11:23 am ...

We already have weather prediction for next turn, so I don't see any downside if one of the players would know in advance the weather for the whole game.
On the other hand, as it is right now, it can greately affect the outcome of a game compared to the other in current tournament setup with 2 games played in mirror.
