On my new laptop, the game runs at over 90 fps, which I think is overkill and heats up the machine unneccesarily. What is the optimal speed?

Are you running in fullscreen - if so you might be able to set the game to use the vsync in your video card control panel, unless of course your laptop panel runs at 90Hz or more!

You can alter the framerate by opening the user.txt file in Documents/My Games/FieldOfGloryMedieval and adding the line

FPSLIMIT 10

You can then increase the value to reduce the framerate of the game. E.g. a value of 15 should give a framerate around 66fps.
