Erik's Multiplayer scenarios

Re: Erik's Multiplayer scenarios
Kyushu is a leftover scenario from the upcoming Operation Olympic campaign.
I came to the conclusion that the number of Japanese units were too large for the AI to handle well.
So I replaced it with a similar (US/Marine attack and Jap counter-attack), but smaller scenario and reworked this one as a multiplayer.

Re: Erik's Multiplayer scenarios
Hello Erik. I really like your multiplayer scenario Coral Sea V6.2 but there appears to be a pretty significant glitch in the design. The airbase next to Port Moresby only exists while there are planes in the hanger. Once all planes have been launched or destroyed the hex becomes a city hex without the ability to further land aircraft. This prevents the Allies from being able to refuel or repair aircraft close to the main battle. It also prevents the Allies from deploying any replacement land based aircraft that they may be able to purchase. This makes it even more difficult for the Allies to defend PM. Was this intentional?
Also it is very challenging for the Allies to get much use out of this airfield due to the water hex due north east 5 hexes from the airfield. This location is just within range of the 3 Japanese Light Cruisers covering the invasion force. If this hex was changed to any land hex then the Japanese would not be able to shore bombard the airfield until their Heavy Cruisers arrived later in the game. This would force the Japanese to have to use their aircraft to bomb the airfield for which at least there is some defense. This would greatly help the Allies to defend Port Moresby and maybe give them a chance to hold out until their Navy arrives.
Is there anyway you could look into this when you get a chance? Thanks.

Thanks for reporting.
The current version available was 7.3
Both of the Port Moresby airbases looked fine there.

The Coral Sea V7.4 does not appear to have a Medical Jeep. This is the only way that the US Army can make repairs. Please double check my observation. Thanks.

Re: Erik's Multiplayer scenarios
I understand that Coral Sea V7.4 is the current version but it is completely different than the V6.2. V7.4 is a hypothetical scenario with free setup, numerous specialisations and a ton of commanders. V6.2 is the historical setup. The two versions require entirely different strategies and tactics. I would love to see the version 6.2 tweaked for greater playability and maybe renamed as the Historical version. Do you still have the 6.2 version?

No, I do not have a 6.2 version. Maybe if 'someone' attached it here

I replied to your PM but I am not sure if it went through. It still shows it in the Outbox and not the Sent Messages. The answer to your question is Yes, I would be happy to. Re: Erik's Multiplayer scenarios
1v1 Coral Sea 1942 v6.2 is what's currently in the community crate.
Would you like to update that to the latest version and/or add this updated historical version?

Re: Erik's Multiplayer scenarios
I've been playing as Japan in the Iwo Jima scenario and it seems a bit unbalanced. I have four primary objectives, not the least of which is to hold the mountain for the entirety (70 turns!) of the scenario. Even if I placed all my units there I can't see keeping it more than 20 turns because it's within shelling range of the allied navy, against which I have a grand total of 1 coastal gun. To say nothing of the allied air force. And even if I could by some miracle keep it I'd lose the other three primary objectives. The best strategy I could come up with was to place my units inland where they're safe from the battleships etc, but as an inevitable consequence I lost the mountain prior to turn 10. It's true I have a lot of bunkers and foxholes, but the only time they can do any damage of consequence is if an enemy unit stumbles across one and that's impossible with foxholes perplexingly (perhaps historical accuracy?) located in rivers. At an absolute minimum I'd need some suicide boats and a very substantial increase in ground unit strength. The infantry shortfall in particular is crippling, I've got perhaps a dozen units or so in total which is just absurd. Several of them are engineers so doubly pointless. Depending on how ambitious the allied objectives are a draw isn't necessarily inconcievable, but victory for Japan is right off the table.

Additional naval groups (no carriers/air units) that may joine the battle are now in the reserve list. Either player may deploy his forces, but this will deploy the other player's reserves as well. The reserve forces are equal in strength.
Secondary objective 'kill carrier' is moved to primary.
The substitute Kriegsmarine seaplane tenders only works with German seaplanes. The Arado Ar 196 is a substitue for the Aichi E13A and the Blohm & Voss replaces the Catalina.
More historical correct at start deployment of all US and a couple of the Jap formations.
Land-based Jap A6M2 Zeros are replaced by Ki-43 Hayabusas. This is to prohibit the Jap player using the land-based fighters on the carriers.

Iwo Jima, another oldie.
I've put it in my to-do list.
