Which armies can use 16 Greek Spear and 12 Pike elements?
What armies (and in which books) are there that could be built around 16 Greek spear and 12 Pike Elements, together with some MF, Light horse and Companions?
Other than the obvious Alex Macedonian are there any others?

Later Macedonian: min 20 pike and max 18 spears (MF, Cav Superior and LH included)JadedMantis wrote:Am I correct in assuming there are no lists in Rise of Rome that can use those troops?
Only Immortal Fire lists?
Attalid Pergamene: see option after 190 BC
Later Seleucids: see option after 166 BC, but also spears can be an allied contingent
Pontic.
My list can vary if you intend Companion only as Lancers, Swordsmen. In such case Later Macedonian have not all the requisites. In some lists you will find Xystophoroi instead of Companions, but they have the same characteristics.

I suspect he means hoplites rather than thureophoroi - in which case you are pretty much stuck with Immortal Fire.marioslaz wrote:Later Macedonian: min 20 pike and max 18 spears (MF, Cav Superior and LH included)JadedMantis wrote:Am I correct in assuming there are no lists in Rise of Rome that can use those troops?

Also depends on how much of purist you are where the Greek spear are concerned. The earlier successor lists do have hoplites with round shields but later on (circa 270 BC) the hoplites are slowly replaced by thureophoroi with shields similar to those used by Celts or the Roman scutum. These you can field as MF or HF, but not both at the same time.
Just thought I'd mention it in case the bowcase nazis have a thing about shields too.

As said before the Kyrenean Greek is a good list. You can also have Chariots if that's your thingJadedMantis wrote:What armies (and in which books) are there that could be built around 16 Greek spear and 12 Pike Elements, together with some MF, Light horse and Companions?

I've tried the Kyreneans a few times and not found them very effective (using protected undrilled spear and the chariots, no pikes).DaiSho wrote:As said before the Kyrenean Greek is a good list. Can you e-mail me and/or private message me any lists that you've used for the Kyreneans? It's one list that I have been wanting to use for a while. I have (as you can see) a Syracusan army, but when I bought it, it came with 4 chariots, and I want to try out the army with the chariots. I like chariots... don't ask me why. I like hoplites... don't ask me why. There are few armies that have Chariots and hoplites... though one of the asia minor nations do from memory?

Yes, these are indeed hoplite figures. Actually they are a friend's figures.rbodleyscott wrote:I suspect he means hoplites rather than thureophoroi - in which case you are pretty much stuck with Immortal Fire.
I am planning to get the FOG rules soon and with my own figures all being later period was wondering what book would be needed to allow him to use his figures.
Anyway, thanks for the input.
BTW as I am about to base some archers for another ruleset I was wondering: how many archers to a base in FOG?
2 for light infantry archers (ie. skirmishers) and 3 for medium foot archers (ie HYW archers or Janissaries). You can base the latter four to a base if you really want to but I think that was intended more for those with regular bow DBM elements who didn't want to rebase.JadedMantis wrote:Yes, these are indeed hoplite figures. Thanks. This is indeed the situation I am sitting with. I am basing some Early Tudor English archers for a DBR army and just realised that being MF in FOG would probably be 3 to a base. The idea is of course to be able to use the figures in FOG as well as DBR.jlopez wrote:You can base the latter four to a base if you really want to but I think that was intended more for those with regular bow DBM elements who didn't want to rebase.
