AI and Mines
I'm designing a Single Player scenario. I gave the AI plenty of Engineer units, but it never uses them to clear minefields. What should I do? Should I assign every individual Engineer an AI Group and telling it to "move to hex" directly into a minefield?

Re: AI and Mines
AFAIK units that are tasked to clear mines have to be inside a "move to hex" AI team. If they're inside one that seeks&destroys, for example, they won't.StuccoFresco wrote: ↑Sat Apr 17, 2021 5:08 pm I'm designing a Single Player scenario. Mmmmh I'm using Defend Hex with Positions to make AI groups attack and hold specific locations, so that wouldn't work.GabeKnight wrote: ↑Sat Apr 17, 2021 5:29 pmAFAIK units that are tasked to clear mines have to be inside a "move to hex" AI team. Re: AI and Mines
Been a couple of years since I designed anything and what I did was on the kindergarden level but a work around may be to after a few turns once the engineer moves to a particular hex the mines are removed by the developer meaning I am assuming you can generate a script thing to where on a particular turn or even the mines are removed

Re: AI and Mines
I solved the issue with the "Move to Hex" assigned to every single Engineer unit. Slow and painful, but it does work.

Re: AI and Mines
Stucco,
When they get there, do they actually clear the mines (costing the 20 rps) or do they just move into the hex and detonate the mines without clearing them?

Re: AI and Mines
They seem to correctly use the ability as far as I can see. It works with every unit that has the correct ability.

Re: AI and Mines
As far as I've observed AI behaviour, the engineers do clear mines the "right way", but even AI heavy inf. then use their mortar attack to "clear" mines (taking casualties).

Re: AI and Mines
I'm fairly sure I've seen unit with the right ability doing it correctly without "assaulting" the mines in my mod (shameless self-promotion: viewtopic.php?f=374&t=108116). I'm going to double check.
