Im sorry, if this has been up before. So Engineers have the “Mine Sweeper” ability great. BUT there are no better than then normal unit to sweep mines getting the 10/3. Am I missing something?

Because you need to use their "ability" in the bottom left menu, the one with the big X on the mine.
You are using their regular attack, that's why you take casualties.
Also, you cannot move and then use the ability, you need to move next to the mines and then wait for the next turn.


It takes a lot of time to clear them; sometimes, when I had a requisition surplus in the late parts of the campaigns I just took the casualties and moved on.
