Why split Medieval at 1200 and then not allow any Heavily Armoured troops when (almost) all knights in the lists become heavily armoured in 1155 AD?

Why not split at 1000-1154, and 1155-1500

We agreed upon the time periods. It allows more armies to be used in the Early Medieval period

Fair enough, although there are several knightly army lists with both start and end date between 1155 and 1199 that are thus excluded completely from the tournament. But I guess that in most cases their post-1200 version will be very similar.
