AI gets unlimited units ???

Post by timberwolf15 »

Seems a lot of the battles are take or hold a few objectives get all of them or more of them for bonuses but its impossible to get more of them because the AI keeps having more and more units to continually replenish the battle I can understand them having more units to throw into the war but not a particular battle if ya recon the map and wipe out units on a side of the map more will spontaneously appear.

In AOxx the AI does not buy units.
The LUA file has preset unit spawning on specific turns.

There is a list of locations, and a separate list of units.
On preset turns a random selection is made from the location list and the unit list.
This way each play through is slightly different.

The goal is to make the game more interesting and challenging.
In the original campaign the AI does not buy units, and does not use the unit spawn routines which were added late Beta after the campaign was written.

So no the AI does not get unlimited units
There comes a time on every project when it is time to shoot the engineer and ship the damn thing.

Tips and Pointers

2. Don't expect to overrun the entire map in every scenario.
Enemy density and enemy reinforcements are a big part of the Axis Operations. You should not expect to walk into every scenario and completely annihilate all enemy units and capture every single square inch of the map. Stick to your objectives, and use natural terrain to funnel, block, and control large enemy forces that otherwise might seem overwhelmingly unfair to engage. For example, in the Spanish Civil War, the first time you approach Madrid... you might want to entrench behind that very defensible river line and not expect to overrun the city as waves of International Brigade forces armed with Soviet tanks reinforce and fortify the city against your assaults!

I too have sensed that same haunting apparition... a sense of grave impending doom... when endless waves of "No Do-gooders" keep descending upon you to make your extermination!. Translation: They want to Stomp all over you!.
