GDW's Imperium Game
Forgive me if I've mentioned this before, but I think that your campaign and combat resolution systems would make a great, yet playable, Sci-Fi multi-player campaign game. I own and have played https://www.boardgamegeek.com/boardgame ... ds-balance and https://www.boardgamegeek.com/boardgame ... ark-nebula many times and I think that you could easily adapt something similar to these games.

I might check them if I get the chance to do a sci-fi game one day! I see both are linked in fact.

To be honest, there so many modern space strategy games available - turn-based & RTS, old & new, more & less complex - that you'd have to be really original to bring something new to the table. Just look at few titles planned for 2022 - Distant Worlds 2, Falling Frontier, Homeworld 3, Terra Invicta, Alliance of the Sacred Suns, Galactic Civilizations IV... I think Shadow Empire (turn-based) + Distant Worlds 2 (real-time) will rule the space strategy genre for next few years and will be very hard to compete with them.
Re: GDW's Imperium Game
Well, it's not only about how it is implemented, but about the theme of the game. Terra Invicta is for me the most original, as for once you don't get served pseudo sci-fi which is heroic fantasy in disguise. No energy shield, no instant teleportation or communication, no FTL.

I like to think that a good strategy game will attract players even if it has modest production values and a commensurate price. Final Theory, by Monticube, is a good example of a 4X Lite game that has found a niche among all of the big sci-fi titles.
