Not sure where to direct this one, but "Dear Agony-aunt, I'm having trouble with my Chrome!"
Yes - when I come to log onto the FoG main wedsite - I get a message stating that I should really download an Adobe Flash Player to go any further (& I don't appear to be able to access the site properly without it). If I do attempt to download said 'plug-in' what I get is a message telling me to swistch off my Google Chrome (brower) to enable me to do the download and I cannot proceed with the dowmlaod or browse the site without this.
When I do switch off my Google Chrome (not as easy as it sounds as it's very 'sticky') what I find is that - surprize surprize - I don't get the Adobe Flash Player plug-in message and the FoG Forum site runs ok (not great but OK). However, if I try to download the Flash Player plug-in it really b*ggers up my Google Chrome - which is my prefered browser as it's so much faster than the old thing I had previously.
I cannot believe that Google Chrome & Adobe Flash Player are really that incompatable - or are they?
Anyway - I guess I cannot be alone with this problem ... do the great IT minds at Slitherine have a handy & easily applicable answer for an IT novice like me?
Cheers
Mark

Depends what you're using it for. Flash is often used for embedded video, like game adverts. Or for the videos on youtube, or the BBC's web site, orPhaze_of_the_Moon wrote:Why should this site depened on Flash in any way shape or form? If this this requires anything more than strict HTML it means that the developers are completely incompetent.
indeed any web site with embedded video. HTML or XHTML doesn't, currently, provide the means to display video, something that Flash does.
It's use for things like menus is more debatable. Depends on the developers' competence

for example, I think is excellent, totally intuitive, and it's all in Flash. No one in their right mind would try to do that in HTML, strict or not.
FoG content - wouldn't it be nice to play online with a flash program?
But if you don't like Flash, it's very easy to block it. For example, Firefox has the noscript or adblock plus addins.

Peter
