Playing Spanish DLC Save Game Question

I don't like the auto save so I don't use it but anyway I use the Save game function by clicking on save game anyway .... when I do I noticed it makes a save game file and in addition a .jpg file a graphic file showing part of the map is this something new what is this ... Thanks ...

Thats the fullscreen image of your scenario thats displayed, fullscreen, when you select the save game from the list. So if you move the camera somewhere interesting before you save, you'll get an interesting screenshot. You can also leave quite a large text description.

Yup. so if you're in the habit of saving a lot, or saving at very deliberate points in the battle/story for replay, or simply not naming your saves in a meaningful way .. you can create a screenshot that highlights what you were doing or thinking last, or write a quick description.
