Division B
Morat (Sarmatian) beats Najanaja (Roman) 45-10
Both sides moved forward to occupy high ground separated by a low valley. After a period of low level skirmishing, the Sarmatians threw their horse round to the left and launched a mixed horse and warband assault on the Roman right. After rounds of desperate fighting, the horse finally broke through and a rapid chain rout of Roman foot caused a sudden collapse.
Many thanks to Najanaja for a great and closely fought battle, which ended so quickly that I was unable to thank him in game.

Karvon - Dailami 928-1055 AD drew vs IMC - Viking (Ireland) 900-1049 AD with Scots 851-1051 AD allies 27-16 for a score of 2-0.
The Vikings and Scots occupied the slopes of a large gentle plateau with their heavy foot. After some initial probing, we shifted the bulk of our army on to their left wing and concentrated our skirmisher and bowfire to wear down and eventually see off a few of their shieldwall, while our supporting lancers and foot occupied the slopes of a small facing hill. The Vikings sortied with some troops and saw off one of our bow but darkness fell before we could effectively seal off and destroy these now more isolated troops.

edb1815 (Aragonese w/ Castillian allies) defeats Delbruck (Sicilian w/ Ghibelline allies) 61-42.
Well played. The Sicilian advance took out the right flank of the Aragonese but the Spanish side broke through the center and then then on the other flank. Close game.

edb1815 (Samnite with Gallic allies) defeated ggarynorman (Ptolemaic) 48-23.
Much of the game was involved the Samnites manuvering to avoid the best pike blocks and Roman legionaries of the Ptolemaics. Some lucky RNG saw the Samnites winning the cavalry battle. Then the Samnite infantry had an edge until the main force of pikes and Romans arrived the balance almost switched over. Well played by ggarynorman.

Aetius39 (Carthaginian) defeats hidde (Jewish) 45-16
The Carthaginians spread out their army and had their left go around the side of a hill some of the Jewish archers and other units were on. After losing a lot of casualties in lights, the main units routed the Jewish massed archers off the hill and flanked some of the phalanxes that were seriously damaging the front line. GG with a lot of broken/fragged Carthaginian units at the end. Thanks for playing!

harveylh - Italo-Norman 1061-1071 AD with Arab (North Africa) 1038-1160 AD allies defeats tyronec - Aragonese 1200-1274 AD with Castilian 1200-1319 AD allies, 61-51
The Norman lancers tried to turn the flanks of the Aragonese but good defense largely mitigated it. However, one Norman knight did manage to cause havoc in the Aragonese center. That combined with some well-timed (lucky) Norman rallies was the difference.

Aetius39 (Byzantines) defeats ericdoman1 (Palmyran) 66-47
Very tough game where the Byzantines tried to avoid and go around a patch of rough in the middle in which they had no units that could really handle it, yet they somehow ended up fighting all around it.^^ Started out bad for them especially on their left side, but a few good/lucky turn of events had the Byzantines break the Palmyran right quite quickly, which sent into motion a few flanks and more routs. Yet still, it took a lot of effort to bring about the victory; Eric is very good and had me fighting till the end.^^ GG!

Kerait (Arab) defeats FireknightBarcelona (Byzantine) 48-13
Arab veterans came through. Thanks for the game.
Kerait (Arab) defeats Barrold713 (Anglo-Danish) 69-34
The well-equipped shield wall posed a challenge, but the veteran Arab spearmen held out just long enough for cheap Arab cavalry to flank. A real rollercoaster of a game.
Kerait (Arab) defeats carpenkm (German) 43-15
In all honesty, carpenkm deserved to win this game with his superior tactical initiative. Knowing that the Arab veterans would drive back his shield wall, carpenkm deployed lancers behind his spearmen ready to intercept the advancing Arabs that over-extended past the general line with a deadly flanking attack.
However, the Arab veterans had iron will as usual and held on long enough for reinforcements to even out the clash of shield walls. Meanwhile, on the Spanish right wing, Muslim cavalry surrounded and destroyed the Spanish lancers.
It must also be noted that I benefitted from a couple of rallies, whereas the Spanish did not give carpenkm that favour.

Karvon - Tuareg 950-1500 AD drew with Kroche - German (South East) 1200-1319 AD 51-32 for a score of 2-2.
Tuaregs battled German left around a large rough and woods and eventually destroyed it and parts of neighboring center but suffered heavy losses along the way. The two sides got drawn apart in pursuit and regrouped but night fell before a final decision could be reached.

Triarii - German (North West) 1200-1319 AD with German (Imperial) 1200-1319 AD allies (1600) defeats ericdoman1 - Mongol (Ilkhanid) 1230-1353 AD with Armenian (Cilicia) 1155-1375 AD allies (1200) 60-38
A tough game were the Mongols advanced, perhaps too hastily, under massed german x-bows on a hill with rough ground and were too badly shot up. However they also did much damage to the x-bows and archers especially those below the hill. Germans were fortunate that no rallies amongst the Mongols and a fortunate last auto rout by missile fire (before the last Mongol units disappeared out of range) just gained the win.

Kroche (Carthaginian 26-236BC) defeated DocVanNostrand (Thracian (Getae) 279 BC-46 AD with Dacian 50 BC-88 AD allies) 61-46
A brutal encounter where the Thracian's attacked the Carthaginian centre/right (main Carthaginian line dissected by a small body of water) and threatened to completely smash it but for stubborn resistance from an elephant unit refusing to yield until the crisis in the line had eased. Another elephant unit managed to break out of the impending doom for the Carthaginian right and was able to threaten the Thracian flank protection force which until then was doing a fine job of preventing the Carthaginian left from supporting the right. The breakthrough elephant unit, aided by some cavalry who had peeled away from a mounted engagement that wasn't going too well, led to gaps in the Thracian screening force which the more numerous Carthaginian left could push through and deliver the final blow to the remainder of the Thracian main attack troops. GG to DocVanNostrand for a great match where there were many moments which could have led to a Carthaginian defeat, but luck was on our side in the majority of those moments
