The enemy (consisting of many hoplites, skirmishers and cavalry) deployed along a ridge flanked by woods. Several hoplite units were deployed on a track in the woods protecting one flank. These were attacked by loose order Gauls which drew the rest of the army down in support. Their attack failed dismally with many hoplites going disordered or fragged at impact. The line collapsed quickly after that.

A very fortunate win for me. At one stage it was looking like a terrible beating for the Visigoths but a few rallies from disrupted to steady, stopped the cataphracts advance, flanks were turned and then Mike's cavalry started to take my right flank apart. Mike was in the lead for a short time but I managed to hold on for a win. Having 1 rally from rout more than Mike made the difference as he would have beaten me on the next turn. I think a draw would have been the right result. Well played Mike and now some HMAing.
