Division B
Captainwaltersavage - Carthaginian (Hannibal in Italy) 216-203 BC with Samnite 355-272 BC allies defeats kraff - Galatian 62-25 BC with Roman 105-25 BC allies 41:16
Faced with some veteran legions and warbands I thought I had better play it safe and take enough medium troops that I could fight it out in the plentiful rough ground. on my side of the battlefield. I brought a few heavies to fill out the spaces in between and my trusty elephants and of course the Carthaginian cavalry wing. Except the Galatians and Romans were far too sensible to come anywhere near my favourite terrain. They formed a stationary fort that became a mobile fort when I advanced to see if I could run from rough patch to rough patch to try and get closer without instantly dying. Then I got too close and the legions struck. Even my generaled up veteran spears were struggling against his elite legions, but being a bit rubbish in big numbers has its advantages. Push-backs, led to flanks opening and once the legions were disrupted, I was in with a chance. The Galatian warbands were the usual mix of brilliance and cowardice smashing up some of my units, but collapsing more often in this battle, and once again the swarm of cavalry was able to get into the rear of enough troops to swing the balance. The elephants were tremendous again, for me, and managed to hold up three units on their own on the left wing. The Galatian elephants were tempted out of position by the prospect of breaking some of my cavalry, which allowed the rest of my cav on that wing to start breaking apart the reserve units. The badges of honour have to be given to the veteran spears and the humble imitation legions. They held on against all the odds long enough for a victory, but it was very close to a complete collapse with all the front line units looking very ragged. Another nail biter - thanks to Kraff who was very gracious in defeat. I'm expecting his praetorians to be getting a very serious talking to when they get back to the changing room.

Division E
Holien - (Carthaginian (Hannibal in Africa) 202 BC with Numidian/Moorish 341-56 BC allies) draws with markleslie - Antigonid 320-301 BC 15 - 9
A tough fight for Hannibal against a very skillful opponent neither side could commit to a full assualt as they would be at serious disadvantage. The Cavalry and Light troops skirmished to no avail. A tough end to Hannibals tourney and very well played to Markleslie who handled his forces with great care and precise positioning to ensure that the Carthage Cavalry and lone Elephant could not land a decisive blow. Thank you to Stockwell Pete for running this engaging tourney...

klayeckles (Thracian + Dacian allies) defeats XLegione - Spartan 221-146 BC with Roman 280-220 BC allies 40 to 12
I've recently lost games due to uncanny bad luck, but this one i won due to good luck, hands down. i sent my warbands up the huge hill in the center of the map, X sent his warband killers up the middle too. We met on the hill top and I blasted a hole right thru his center and in a few short turns cut his army in half and dominated the center hill. Sorry Bro...But i'll gladly take the victory against a skilled player!
