Galland or the 109G
I've tried both and the 109G seems the way to go. what am I missing? If Galland had double attack be totally different story. your thoughts?
Re: Galland or the 109G
In my opinion , for now (1942 DLC ) the best is to keep Galland as hero ... in the future nobody knows

109G will arrive in 1942, so just keep Galland and use your 109F.

Unique heroes are almost always better, especially long term, than equipment that you will eventually get anyway. His + 2 attack and higher initiative and aiming assist are helpful throughout the war.
I think they should have forced you to give up Galland at Crete, and then automatically given you a replacement fighter hero with equally good bonuses.

Don't forget his legendary trait which provides 50 prestige per turn...
Let's say 20 turns times 10 scenarios times 50 per dlc from 39. 10000 prestige.
40000 by end of 42. That's a conservative estimate.

I typically give Galland up. Not necessarily for the 109Gs, but more for roleplay purposes.

Better question is: "Is it worth it to keep a Galland hero that you acquired from a non-imported core?" He is missing the +2 Air Attack and Initiative. Still Probably better to hang on to him.

Who needs the BF 109G if the FW 190 comes out?!

Slot Efficiency.
The 109G costs 3 Deployment Slots, while the 190A costs 5. So you can get 5 109G for the same deployment cost as 3 190s. And while the 190A is better statewide, the 109G isn't that outclassed by it, and quantity can be a very useful thing to have, especially for maps with lets of enemy aircraft.
Personally, I tend to make 1/3rd to 1/2 of my Fighters 190s while keeping the rest 109s. As better 190s come out in future DLC, maybe the ratio of 190s will increase until no more 109s.

Re: Galland or the 109G
If you are playing just a 1941 campaign then I would say the 109G is better. The extra ground and air attack makes the 109G much more useful as a plane in the short term where you can better win the air war without spending as many slots. Galland is much better if you plan on playing any longer though. In mid-42 the 109G becomes standard equipment and Galland remains way more useful as you keep upgrading your fighters.
