Need some advice.
I currently have a few Gripping beast figures Vikings and will need quite a few more for an army im doing, but i am not sure that i want to get more Gripping beast as i have had problems with them before.
What i want to know is, will essex Vikings mix in well or not.
Are there any other figures in the UK that will match.
Cheers

Hello, I am building an Anglo Danish / Viking Army using Gripping Beast and Essex figures in 28mm. I think they fit together well. I actualy like the Essex ones better and they are cheaper too. You could also try Musketeer, Irregular & Black Tree Design but I have not tried them for size. I do have some old Miniture Figurines bought nearly 30 years ago but they are a little bit on the small side.
I got one russ 28mm army nearly finished, so plenty of viking into it.
the essex caracter are a bit fatty and doesnt mix that well with the old glory one.
I do prefer the old glory one since there are a bunch of reference (viking saxon norsemen...) and alternative pose, well... price matter as well.
If you want some pix let me know

Foundry Vikings aren't a world away size-wise from Gripping beast.
PG; May contain swearing Russian roulette bloody violence terror medical and regular gore distress horror (including guinea pigs) fantasy horror with scenes where characters are endangered by food and hard to categorise situations involving penguins.
vikings
surprised to hear you had problems with the gripping beast boys they are usually pretty good.
for 28mm vikings that match thier size: musketeer saxons might have a few but they are really for the "age of arthur" stuff so might be a bit early, Foundry are a) a bit fantasy in thier viking range for my taste and b) very very expensive now, essex i have found to be a bit smaller than current 28mm ranges , though not to be totally incopatible, black tree are pretty chuncky as are renegade(who are nearly 30mm IIRC) crusader do some i think again quite hefty, but pssible to mix with GB stuff i think. not keen on OG 28mm stuff. r if you can wait i hear a rumour that warlord games were going to lok at vikings, they would be cheaper (being plastic) and mix very well , though possibly not as sturdily built (vikings are one of the older GB ranges)
hope that helps with a run down of 28mm viking ranges i can think of, i have been very happy with the GB viking WAB army i bought a couple of years back, though it may end up going on sale as i just don't get the time to paint it at the moment
