advanced options and air recon

Post by charge62 »

Hi

- Do any of the advanced options in campaign setup break achievements?

- I aggressively use air recon with 2 -3 in every battle to get the spotting bonus. Sometimes at the end of a turn I park unused air recon over my own units that are most likely to be attacked on the AI turn. This is in hopes that the recon will boost their defense. The Recon Plane unit ability doesn't support this use of air recon, "Enemy unit directly under recon plane is attacked by other friendly units with 10% accuracy." Does the Recon Plane ability apply in defensive situations? Is this something that should be added?

Thank you.

To the first question: afaik no - all advanced options are considered legal, again afaik

I cant answer your second question, i use to park my recon units over "expensive" units that are not protected bei anti aircraft guns

if you have an air recon over and a land recon adjacent to an enemy unit, do the accuracy increases stack up, add together, etc.? I' never really thought about the accuracy factor from air recon  , have frequently used them to provide cover for other valuable units especially artillery.

Adjacent land and air recons do stack. If you select your attacking unit, then hover the mouse over the target unit, then press"L" you can bring up the combat calculation window.

Tested air recon in a defensive role. Stock campaign, Paris scenario. German 37mm AT being attacked by French cavalry.

When the air recon was over the defender (player 37mm) no bonus appeared in the combat calculations.

When the air recon was over the attacker, the bonus did appear as shown below.

So it is possible to use air recon bonuses defensively, but you have to position the air recon over the hex that you expect the attacked to be launched from.
