At this stage I obliterated my opponent with UK in 5 rounds and only got 247 points. I came on the forum to see what is wrong and find out the scoring system is totally not ok.

Simple fix: any player that wins the game faster should get the remainder number of turns x all VH x 25 points.

In my case, I won in 5/15 turns so there are 10 turns left. I think Germany starts with 7 VH and UK 1 if I am not wrong, so 8 VH x 25 points x 10 remaining turns = 2000 extra points.

In order to save the credibility of this tournament, I think is a total must that points are awarded retroactively.

One thought on the issue of players that crush their turns to get better results, I remember in beta that MP games always had the predicted result, no luck involved. So if we can have the rest of the tournament rounds with no luck, than the main reason to cheat would be removed.

Also on the issue of 2000 points awarded for no show, I think this score is ok as long as no show players are removed from tournament. This will pevent one lucky player to win a lot of free points w/o playing.

Could someone explain how points were added for the opponent's resignation? (I can see differences in points for both me and my opponent).

you get 2000 for not playing so who cares about playing a game where you win BOTH SIDES DECISIVELY AND GET LESS THAN 2000 POINTS, I am not playing so my opponent Panzergott will get 2000 and he still has no chance of winning tournament since leaders are at 5800 points , he will be 2000 points behind and still trail any nonplayers which got 4000.... BY THE THE 3RD ROUND ITS MATHEMATICALLY IMPOSSIBLE TO CATCH ANY ONE AT THE TOP EVEN WHEN YOU WON EVERY GAME IN FIRST TWO ROUNDS BY THIS SCORING SYSTEM WHICH IGNORES THE WINNER AND REWARDS THE POINTS COUNTING STRATEGY

You're not reading and you're not listening. Slitherine acknowledges the problem and has clearly said a fix is coming before round 3. We do not know yet if the fix is retroactive or not, so overreacting is not your best move here. Have some patience and give them a chance to address it.

On top of that, once the stronger players are at the top of the leader board and playing against each other, it will not be blowout games. Very likely they will be lower, more evenly scored games with both players winning the attack or both players winning on defense. That time will give others a chance to gain some ground and maybe overtake them. But with only 2 out of 12 rounds done, YOU don't know. So chill and let's see what happens in November.

I'm curious though, when real life isn't fair to you outside of pixel war games, do you rage quit then as well?

i am not raging I just crunched the numbers and slitherine ruined the chances for a fun tournament by eliminating 95% of the players after 2 rounds with an absolutely moronic scoring system...you are the dummy defending their stupidity! they caused the problem and I just letting the facts speak for themselves and by the way I have done exceptionally well outside virtual reality, thanks for asking

I would like to point out that some of the players that outsmart their opponents to the point they win the game in a few rounds are quite smart in real life as well. Being smart in real life has some disadvantages, like expecting other people to be smart aswell. And guess what, launching a "World Championship" where good players that win the game in a few rounds are actually punished for that, was not exactly a smart thing to do.

Now, in my humble opinion, if devs can't offer points back for the first 2 rounds to people that won fast, the "World Championship" should be restarted, or it will lose any credibility.

Update 1.02.01 was released on nov 4th (i.e the day after round 2 finished), with (quoting AlbertoC):
"- Added new parameters and options for more advanced scoring in tournaments"

=> There will be changes between round 2 and 3, as the devs promised.
However, I totally agree that would have been nice to have more details about these "new parameters & options". I guess we'll have to wait until nov 10th (begining of round 3) to find out.

But i need to say that it was a good lesson for me and definitly a pleasure to play against him!!! I learned a lot!!! at this point, thank your very much Edmon for this painfull but good lesson!!

And I hope that i will have a chance for my revange during this tournament!!! I´m working for this, and with luck i´ll face him again!!!
