As i was finishing up the 42' DLC, some pointers on the final mission.
The western extraction point doesn't do anything. If you go to the editor it's also listed as an objective, but actually turned off. So it's just there for show. The only thing you need to do is protect those transports.
Because there are no victory points in Stalingrad - the AI will never go there. It doesn't even try to take any of the airfields. This results in the best option for this mission is just doing absolutely nothing hiding in Stalingrad. At the end you'll have saved 6th army. As can be shown here: https://youtu.be/VNn6VtioGw8
Bit of a disappointment for a final mission like that. Can't imagine all of this is intended either - but it's not really a bug. Just feels more like a rushed/unfinished job. Didn't anybody notice this in beta?
Either way - just wanted to put that out there, hope it get's propped up in a patch, if that's still a thing. So that other people can enjoy that more.
Cheers.
Ps. On the note of extraction point: Couldn't something be done along the lines of the first mission in the spanish civil war - where the game checked whether you had 5 units on those hexes for that bonus point? Same could've been done for the extraction point where there are say, 10 hexes and the game checks whether you have all of those filled - just a thought.

Yes I wish they would do your idea. So far there is only LUA scripting like in the SCW first mission for extracting infantry to an extraction zone and wish they would expand this so I can use it to extract any unit type for our mods.NightPhoenix wrote: ↑Fri Oct 22, 2021 9:24 am As i was finishing up the 42' DLC, some pointers on the final mission.

Re: On operation Blut
I just moved the transports to the surrounding hexes, well after I cleared out the Russians in the area.
Re: On operation Blut
The release of AO42 was set by the PzC2 Anniversary date, not by state of the software.
This is one scenario that will have significant changes in the pending update fix.

There comes a time on every project when it is time to shoot the engineer and ship the damn thing.

This is my impression of the quality of AO42 release
