Division A

Morbio - Roman 24 BC–196 AD with Arab 312 BC - 299 AD allies did not fight SpeedyCM - Jewish Revolt 66-135 AD.

The Romans looked across an open vista to see the Judeans running into the trees in the corner. Despite waiting patiently and offering battles the Jews wouldn't come out so the Romans went home :(

Division D

Blagrot - Jewish Revolt 66-135 AD beat random27 - Ancient British 60 BC-80 AD with Roman 24 BC–196 AD allies 60% - 46%

The British took up a strong posistion on a hill with warbands lurking behind a forest nearby and cavalry flanking, the Jewish skirmishers went hunting horses while the irregulars pinned everything they could and the Zealots assualted anything that looked weaker. Ultimately there were simply too many for the British and Romans to kill and their posistion collapsed, thanks for the game and chat

Division B

Captainwaltersavage - Portuguese 1200-1319 AD with Berber (Marinid) 1244-1319 AD allies draws with lunecastle - Aragonese 1200-1274 AD with Castilian/Leonese 1200-1319 AD allies 54:54

A tremendous battle that ended when night fell. I think every inch of that battlefield was fought over at some point with Lunecastles daring ambush falling to pieces. My right flank collapsing when the spearmen got too brvae and then the attackers collapsing in turn when some knights arrived and smashed apart his lines. The routed ambush rallied and then one of my fragmented spearmen survived three rounds of fighting some knights who also somehow held it together despite being down to about a third of their numbers. I think a draw was a very sensible result as we both had moments of luck and skill in equal measure.

Division B

Captainwaltersavage defeats ray552 60:29

Chinese (Jin) 317-420 AD v Sixteen Kingdoms 304-439 AD

The horse lords charged the Jin warriors and while they won on their right flank crashing into the pathetically weak but incredibly brave, archers and spearmen defending a low hill the horselords on their left flank encountered the serried ranks of archers who made every shot count. The enemy cavalry were dismayed and then broken when the longspears of the cavalry and the infantry reached for their lives as they charged down from the hill. So many arrows that they sky was dark. Archery definitely won the day and the heavy lancers that charged them had a very bad day when almost nothing went right for them. Even those horse that broke through my lines on my left were being shot to pieces as the army gave up. Very scary game as a chain rout could have swept my defences away - as it has in other games this season. Today they had eaten all their brave pills though and victory was sweet after the drubbing I got from Ray552 last season.

Division A

harveylh - Italo-Norman 1061-1071 AD with Arab (North Africa) 1038-1160 AD allies defeats ericdoman1 - Mongol (Ilkhanid) 1230-1353 AD with Armenian (Cilicia) 1155-1375 AD allies, 60-46.

Tough game for the Ilkhanid Mongols as several units of knights aggressively pursued routers including two who pursued off map and never returned. That was a lucky break for the Italo-Normans.

Re: Any questions?

Post by CaptainPunka »

A few tournament related questions.

1. What is the schedule of digital league tournaments? Is it once every 3 months, twice yearly, etc.?

2. Is there a way I can sign up to receive an email to my gmail account when a new tournament is starting up? I am not always on these forums, and me checking periodically means I might miss the notification.

3. Has there ever been any thought to break up the tournaments? For example, one time do the Middle Ages (High and Early) and then the next time do Antiquities (Classical and Late). To keep the same number of tournaments just do them twice as often (but with half the formats). So, for example, if currently digital league tourneys are every 4 months, we could alternate between the two "ages" every 2 months instead. I think this would allow for greater participation by those (like me) who cannot allocate enough time to compete in many formats all simulataneously.

PS - I LOVE the ability to play in these tournaments and love the support everyone gives to them. I know it's a lot of work, and I wanted to extend my sincerest gratitude! :)

Regards,
~Jason

Division D

Kerait (Ghurid) defeats CaptainPunka (Imperial German) 64-36

Germans made early gains with dismounted knights posing a particular threat to the Ghurids, but wide Ghurid cavalry manoeuvres enabled flanks that cracked the German foot and left the German missile units exposed. As usual, elephants had a good go at European knights. Good game to CaptainPunka, I thought I would lose this one!
