Start up problem

I have down loaded the game from the site but, when I try to run it nothing happens. I have re-down loaded it, installed it and tried to start it from the short-cut, from the program menu and from in side the file. I have also tried to run it with and with out the patch. I have 20 years + computer experience but I can not figure out this one?
System Info: XP 2002 SP3 Pentium R 3.0 Nvidia card (A Dell from 2005)

I had the same issue, and the problem was with Java. Here is a link to the thread which eventually got me the answer:

Ok, I tried the DOS prompt entry but I got he following:

Error occured during the inilization of VM
Too small inital heap

also,

Esception in thread "main" java.lang.nodeclassdeffounderror: class path

Wow, this brings me back to the old days of gaming, especialy because it does not work

Did you try the solution that worked for me?

1. Right click on desktop icon & select properties
2. At the end of the "Target" line, replace the java code with the following:

java -Xms256m -Xmx512m -classpath . CNAW
