Sportsmanship and multiple downloads of the turns

Post by XLegione »

Dear players, we know, we all wish to play fair and on some rare occasions due to electrical shutdowns, could happen "multiple downloads".

In case of other reasons, we need to know immediately and tech support has to be contacted for assistance will need to be done.

If there are still multiple downloads without any explanations, the player will be immediately banned for the present and future competions and all his games will be assigned to their opponents.

We are in contact with Slitherine, there is an automatic system that checks multiple downloads.
Warning e.mail are sent to players that make multiple downloads, Slitherine will inform us if someone partecipating to WTC will receive the warning mail.

Ciao

I am playing my first turn after deployment with Triarii. I looked at his deployment and first move, and I tried to save the game to come back to it later this afternoon. When I tried to save it, my Internet connection was temporarily down and it couldn't save. I switched to a mobile phone hotspot connection, but the game doesn't recognize the change and I get the repeated message "Game has failed to send multiple times. If you cannot send your turn, you can hit Cancel to exit the mission and discard this turn. The server will record that this mission has been retried".

I don't have any choice but to discard my first turn, even though I haven't moved a single unit. Is there anything that can be done in situations like this?

EDIT: I now see that I am still able to play the first turn, so all is not lost. This is very frustrating, but I will try to develop the habit of checking my Internet connection status before uploading the turn.

EDIT2: Now I did lose my turn. I reloaded the turn, moved all of my units directly forward, checked my Internet connection and uploaded my turn. After over 5 minutes of "Waiting...", I cancelled the upload assuming that I could just reply it in later in the evening. After cancelling the upload, the program went into the endless looping message as per above. I eventually cancelled again, but this time my turn was lost and it is now my opponent's move. Any guidance on what to do should this happen again would be appreciated.

A Canadian teammate reported similar turn upload problems tonight. Was the Slitherine PBEM++ server down? It wasn't my Internet connection the second time. I played and uploaded my FOG:Empires MP turn in under 10 seconds.

It just happened again today. This is getting ridiculous. I checked my Internet connection before the upload and after 2+ minutes of "Waiting..." it gives up. You can retry a few more times but they are rejected instantly.

EDIT: I replayed my turn 3 hours later and it uploaded this time.

I lost my MP FOG2 Empires turn today because of the server, but my tournament upload took seconds as usual (I waited a couple of hours).

Would it be possible by Slitherine to add an option of sending "number of downloads" together with the rest of the turn? They already have that info...

They have been asked to do that in the past but declined - there was a long running discussion about a year ago.
Interestingly I have just started play testing World in Flames and that has a reload count that shows up for PBEM games.

Hello.
I had some problems with my computer during turn 1 and had to reboot it.

Tried to recreate the movement of the first turn before the first crash.

Plans for the future is to use a different computer
