Division D
Kroche (Carthaginians 262-236BC) defeated ulysisgrunt (Gallic 300-100 BC with Samnite 355-272 BC allies) 40-15
Carthaginian deployment area was split by a huge wood and hill making it difficult for Gauls and their allies to make contact across the whole line. The resulting pinch point where both sides funnelled troops into was held and eventually won by the Carthaginians through the brute force of the elephants and courage of the spearmen to survive the
initial assault by the Samnite foot. Gallic mounted forces were in the ascendency on the Carthaginian left, but there was no time to capitalise on their advantage as the battle concluded in Carthaginian favour. GG

gfs26 (Roman 105-25 BC) beat Hari72 (Macedonian 320-261 BC) 57 - 32
A very hard battle. My opponent had an impressive phalanx formation (8 average+2 elite) and many cavalry in support, with only very few extra infantry units in support. The weak point was the right flank of the phalanx formation a bit exposed (no cavalry to guard)... My Roman army was deployed also with all cavalry on the right flank (i had approx. 1:2 disadvantage in cavalry, maybe a bit more)... anyway the cavalry battle lasted a bit more than expected and not all my cavalry was put out of combat (later returned and delayed the macedonian cavalry attempt to engage my infantry) ... in the meantime roman legionaries advanced and engaged the phalanx formation... the initial attack was very effective, almost taking out of combat 2 enemy phalanx units and also breaking the line... i had reserves on the left flank and in a few turns they were in position to flank/rear attack... My enemy put up a great resistance, but in the end Roman army was victorious. Congrats to Hari72 for the great fight !

olddog52 - Spartan 221-146 BC with Roman 280-220 BC allies (1600) victory DirtyMark - Macedonian 328-321 BC (1600) 41-4
The Spartan/Roman army was able to move en masse on the right flank of the enemy taking a key hill just in front of the Macedonian line. The Macedonian army moved on the threat In force with its Right flank holding fast to a small hill at the end of its start line, the center and left swing to the right. The heavy cavalry and war elephants had the furthest to travel from the far left to the point of attack. Unfortunately, the attack collapsed on contact, and the heavy cavalry support was held up by light infantry in rough terrain protecting the Spartan/Roman right flank. DirtyMark not lacking in elan or courage. Thanks for a good fight Mark.

olddog52 - Spartan 221-146 BC with Roman 280-220 BC allies (1600) victory over Fluidwill - Roman 199-106 BC (1600) 45-18
The battle started with my Cav(H/Lt) and a mix of Lt and Med Inf on my left -and Hv Inf with Spartan phalanxes in the center. My right was refused held by Thureophroi with Lt Inf.
Rome was in a standard checkerboard with my left((Mixed force) slightly overlapping his right flank. I suspected the woods on his left held some type of force hence my refused right. As you see Fluidwill and I had our plans from the start. I was going for his right and he had set his goal for my left. My attack went off as hoped, helped in no small part by my center holding then breaking his center before his attack could crush my right.Fluidwill and I will fight again. I enjoy the quality of the people/players I get to play in the League. Top-notch, Thank you Will!
