RPG infantry units do very little damage to soft targets, they are dedicated to attack vehicles. So expect poor performance against infantry opponents.
About saves, considering the major updates in 1.6, don't expect compatibility with previous ones.

Yeah I already did everything the video and guide showed. I installed GME into my root game folder. Moved the mods into the folder it makes. Enabled it and after that I get the result I mentioned. I think I got a couple things wrong so i'll mention what I presume to be the cause of the problem,do I need to enable both the mod file and at least the standard or big screen map version? Which exe packed in the 1.32 patch do I replace mine with? The one named PanzerCorps or the one named PanzerCorps Steam? Thanks in advance

You have to use the exe file that matchs your game version. If you do use Steam, then you have to rename Panzer Corps Steam to Panzer Corps and then overwrite the original one.

The French APILAS hand-held anti-tank grenade launcher was captured on the video of the attack of the Amoud Horan brigades, which is part of the so-called "Southern Front", at the position of the 52nd brigade of the Syrian army in the province of Deraa. Some feedback on the new Syrian campaign.

Firstly, nice job with the desert scenario music. I did not know it is possible to do it like this, good idea. And I like the theme in general, it fits the different mood as opposed to the European setting. If only the same could be done with the Falklands/Malvinas scenario somehow as I feel the techno themed "ingame.mp3" does not really fit the early 1980's mood.

Unit icons and maps are great, as always, there is not much to add here. I was just a bit surprised that the BMP-1 proved to be better than the BMP-2 especially against hard targets. It looks like the BMP-1 is better against hard targets and the BMP-2 is better against soft targets. When in my opinion the BMP-2 should be better in both aspects. It carries a more effective autocannon and better AT missiles. And I guess both should be multipurpose like the US M2/M3 Bradley.

My difficulty: General, with normal (random) dice chess

First scenario, relatively short and not too hard but also not very easy. It's a good first scenario to start a campaign.

Problems started right at the second one, though. (Spoilers ahead!)

First, I did not expect that the AI would move first, so I already lost a towed artillery south of Talbiseh, even before I could move anything. The unit placement hexes are quite restricted and vulnerable and even if I had known that the AI would move first I guess it would have been difficult to avoid it as the AI attacked my units immediately without mercy. Moreso that I did not have any recon data in turn 0 and did not see the units which attacked me.

The "recon" group in the NW corner also did not have any meaningful recon info, so I just tried to slowly and cautiously move them towards SE but it appeared that they were surrounded by superior forces which of course saw them and attacked them mercilessly in turn 2. I could only save the BMP, the others were massacred on short notice, so bye-bye Major Victory.

My units south of Homs also got into trouble from turn 2, they were attacked from the south, although I thought they should have been besieging the city offensively. So what survived here ended up retreating to the east, out of sight of the enemy, instead of attacking the city itself.

Meanwhile, the enemy tank unit at Talbiseh was very lucky as it survived multiple attacks despite the promising forecast (thanks to random dice...) and ended the turn with 1 strength and with none of my units next to it. Massive disappointment as obviously it meant that it will be back to full strength the nex turn. This enemy tank unit proved to be a real trouble maker as in turn 5 it managed to destroy one of my own tanks, with the help of an enemy BMP. This made even the capture of Talbiseh real challenging. At the same time the siege of Homs proved to be very slow due to the heavily entreched enemy units.

Only around this time I finally realised that the maximum experience of my units is capped at 85 experience points. Meaning that I already wasted a lot of prestige in vain, trying to have at least a few units with one star to counter the seemingly superior rebel units. But it was a waste of prestige as none of them could pass 85 exp and gain a single star. What was more annoying was that I did not read any warning about this restriction in any of the briefings or message boxes. Again, if I had known perhaps I would have followed a different strategy from the beginning. Even if I did not really have problems with the prestige until this point, normally I think it is better to just use green replacements from the beginning and save the prestige for later unit purchases and upgrades in the campaign. Ideally it should have been mentioned at least in one of the first messages or briefings.

So despite all the difficulties I somehow managed to take Talbiseh and later Homs but at around that point the rebels again attacked me from all directions forcing me to go into defensive again, instead of capturing the last two objective cities in the far north and south. I do not know if it was scripted or intended like this or not. Anyway at this point I started to have a feeling that this scenrio is intended to be lost and since I only had a few turns left I just tried to keep what I had i.e. Homs and Talbiseh. Although I had the prestige I just did not have enough core slots to build a bigger army to take the last cities while defending the ones I captured from the counter-attacks of the enemy. So I just thought I would be able to continue the campaing with a loss and then teach them a lesson in the next scenario, but unfortunately losing this scenario ended my campaign. And thus the rebels can now celebrate their early victory.

Probably if I restart the campaign with this knowledge I could achieve a better result but I think it was a bit too harsh and unfair anyway, at least playing on General and random dice chess. However, it is also true that I indeed had some really unlucky dice rolls and I did make a few mistakes as well. Overall, the AI played really well, or I played really poorly, I don't know. But I would have been happy to continue the campaign even after this loss, if I was allowed to. Checking the remaining units of the enemy at the last turn, I think I was close to break them, and I could have won if I continue to press on, but when they again attacked me from all directions half way, I felt it necessary to go on the defensive, mainly since I did not have enough recon info and did not know how many units they still have.

Other than that, I think it is a great campaign with a very different mood and feel what we are used to but it may need some tweaking.

2nd attempt on 2nd scenario of Syrian campaign.

With the previous knowledge this time I am much better prepared. I only use green replacements for all units to save prestige for later battles. I do not see the point in using elite replacements if my units cannot have more than 85 experience points. Also I am more careful with the unit placements in turn 0 and thus manage to avoid early losses.

This time I chose not to move the "recon" group in the NW at all, knowing that they are surrounded by superior forces. However at mid game they are suddenly attacked anyway, probably by an AI script. Nevertheless, I think they have a better chance to survive if they remain where they are instead of trying to break out and reach the other friendly units, which somewhat contradicts what is suggested in the briefing.

Result: Decisive Victory in turn 13 with some 3500 prestige points at the end.

With that in mind this second attempt is much more enjoyable and fun. It is still relatively difficult but at least not so frustrating as first time. Thus I suggest a few tweaks:

- The player should be notified that his units cannot gain more than 75-85 exp points in these early scenarios because of the experience cap. Therefore using elite replacements is not really recommended.

- I still don't know if it will be possible to gain at least 100 exp in the next scenario but it would be nice to know it. If so, I may consider using some elite replacements at times with some units to keep their exp level at 85 so that in the next scenario they can quickly reach 100. This lack of information is still a bit frustrating to be honest.

- The player should be notified that the enemy will move its units first at the beginning of the 2nd scenario so he has to be careful with the unit placements.

- Ideally there should be some more recon during the unit placement phase so that the player can see what units can attack from the north. Perhaps there could be a friendly bunker nearby or something like that with increased spotting.

Why does the BRDM-2 has the same movement type as the BMP types (amphibious)? I guess there should be a different amphibious movement type for wheeled and tracked amphibious units...

Thats an interesting idea. I thought about exapanding the WW3 story with new campaigns, but grand campaings could be pretty interesting.

I considered the 73mm cannon from the BMP-1 to be better for hard targets, the 30mm cannon from the BMP-2 should be better against infantry.
The Syrian army has no improved BMP-2s with AT missiles, so thats why they dont have the switchable mode.

Mhh, I did never see any campaign where the player is informed of the exp per scenario.
But I take your suggestion, I will see what can I do.

Both are amphibious vehicles. But yes, I could try to split the movement into wheeled and tracked.

Mhhh, the YPG has a very very limited arsenal. I think a dedicated campaign would become boring quite fast... and I would have to add a new nation: Turkey Thats for sure its quite a work

Hello all!,
Air warfare will receive a significant addition: Electronic Warfare.
Heavy aircraft class units shall be splitted as the following:
* Heavy Bombers: Long range, significant ground attack. Weak ground and air defense.
* Recon Aircraft: Large spotting range. Prestige cost cheap/moderate.
* AWACS: Significant spotting. RADAR trait, now AWACS are CRITICAL to turn the tide during air combat . EXPENSIVE cost.
* EW (Electronic Warfare): Massive suppresing ability. Excellent ground defense makes them very useful to supress enemy air defenses without sufferring any damage. Prestige cost moderate.

A lot of new units have been added to this end (some few more to come, i.e. EA-18G Growler and Il-18)


I hope these changes/addtions will spice up the battlefield with more modern equipment. The game old engine still allows me to push for some new stuff .

Well, it works pretty acceptable I think.
Lets see:
1- The A-10 (reworked icon ) is ready to attack the BMPT Terminator, but the later is protected by a powerful S-400 defense.

2- The EA-6B Prowler launchs its electronic attack on the S-400:

No losses at all and the S-400 is virtually deactivated.
3- Now the A-10 can perform its attack with much better odds than usual:


Is not perfect, but I think is quite enjoyable. Of course from to time to time, besides the expected suppression, the EW aircrafts inflict some damage on the ground units, although pretty small.

I see. Well, as long as it doesn't kill ammo/fuel along with suppression it can be nice niche weapon system. Suppose it won't get much experience either, but ohwell... ALSO, can you filter out possible target list, so this nice little prowler will not be able to screw MBTs, Infantry, etc? Anti-Air, Ships to some extent, maybe Artillery (atleast long range) sounds like a fair deal but Infantry and IFV/MBTs should be more or less immune imo.
