It's related to one of the changes made in version 1.02
"Steamroller trait now only works with units which also have Overrun trait"

It should do for infantry though as the overrun hero is still a thing
Re: Infantery steamroller problem Dlc 42
As long as you have the hero on the unit, both Overrun and Steamroller work.scott_mathieson wrote: ↑Fri Jul 09, 2021 6:47 pmIt should do for infantry though as the overrun hero is still a thing
The way it used to be, you could get Steamroller and then remove the hero from the unit and it would still be able to overrun things. That's no longer the case.

Re: Infantery steamroller problem Dlc 42
is that the same for SCW thru the 42?
Re: Infantery steamroller problem Dlc 42
I guess it is probably the proper way it should be, but I'll miss it. I had two overrun heroes, one since fairly early in SCW, and with it a got Steamroller by the end of '41 on 5 different infantry units plus one recon! So...it's value as a hero has now taken a huge hit IMO.

Yeah, yeah it might have been a bit over the top.

And, of course, you can still have all the power of an Azul Infanterie with Steamroller - it just needs the Overrun hero assigned to it.
It was a necessary change. Overrun was the only hero that could make itself obsolete. It was also the only hero that could give its power to a unit without being assigned to that unit, which is insanely powerful. My latest core has three overrun heroes - where I left off, they were all unnecessary because the units that I cared about all had steamroller already. Now those heroes are useful again (and I'm glad I didn't delete them).

Funny, I think the opposite. I didn't roll one, so I gave Steamroller to my recons, Artillery and ATs by levelling them as tanks. Now you absolutely need the hero. His effect before was essentially to save you xp and time, but now he is essential if you want steamroller on anything except tanks.adiekmann wrote: ↑Sat Jul 10, 2021 6:15 am I guess it is probably the proper way it should be, but I'll miss it. If you forced a surrender, Steamroller won't trigger.

thanks for explaining about no Steam after surrender. makes sense
Re: Infantery steamroller problem Dlc 42
Nope, no surrenders. Steamroller simply doesn't work with that particular unit.VirgilInTheSKY wrote: ↑Fri Sep 17, 2021 11:20 pmIf you forced a surrender, Steamroller won't trigger.
On my other units with overrun trait (Panzers + Recons) Steamroller works as expected.
Re: Infantery steamroller problem Dlc 42
Overrun or Steamroller ?
Overrun only works if you kill an enemy unit in an open tile and didnt recieve any return fire/losses/supression. Once the unit got Steamroller it should work on every kill. If its really steamroller on that unit, this sounds like a bug

I assumed a bug this noticeable would be reported already - but I guess it hasn't.
1 of these 8 units with Steamroller isn't using it.... I forgot which. lol
Well there would be 8 if my second screenshot would load properly....
I'll load a game later to see if I can work out the bug.

I never put tanks in close terrain...seems a little unrealistic to me.Bee1976 wrote: ↑Sat Sep 18, 2021 6:07 pmOverrun or Steamroller ?

But does overrun not work in close terrain? - If so that may explain why my SdKfz 251 Flamms aren't using overrun in Stalingrad.
Re: Infantery steamroller problem Dlc 42
Well city tiles and hills count als close terrain aswell as woods. In playthroughs when having the camouflage+artillerysupport hero i prefer to set traps for the AI with a weak tank in a close tile and the camo supporter behind it to take out nasty infantry

Yes, overrun itself only work when you kill enemies in open tiles. Steamroller works always

I would add a Provocator unit adjacent to it and put support unit next to the Provocator one.Bee1976 wrote: ↑Tue Sep 21, 2021 3:03 pmWell City tiles and hills count als close terrain aswell as woods.
