Round 3: Conclusion of battles

Post by kronenblatt »

Battle 1 (Etruscans versus Romans)
  • Engagement 1.1: Aetius39 (army #1, 1524 FP) versus kronenblatt (army #8, 1555 FP). => kronenblatt (51% incurred) beat Aetius39 (62%).
  • Engagement 1.2: Aetius39 (army #1, 1524 FP) versus olin0111 (army #7, 1530 FP). => Aetius39 beat olin0111 due to unconcluded game.
  • Engagement 1.3: Malabar26 (army #2, 1499 FP) versus kronenblatt (army #8, 1555 FP). => Malabar26 (50% incurred) beat kronenblatt (64%).
=> Battle is a draw.
=> Each of the four armies moving 2 hexes away from the armies it fought, in the direction of one of its faction's capitals (whether controlled or not), always without moving within the ZoC of any army from another faction.

Round 3: Administration

Post by kronenblatt »

This is the situation at the end of round 4 after movement of armies having drawn the battle between Etruscan armies #1 and #2 and Roman armies #7 and #8 and after having added FP from reinforcements for one Greek army (deeter #6 +16) and the two Samnite armies (TheGrayMouser #9 +32 and Kerait #10 +16).

EDIT: Plus that Gallic army #4 gains control over Ariminium and Pisaurum.

Now.... Summer break: this tournament is back end of August! (Too hot to fight in Italia now anyway.)

I'll send a PM to everyone participating to get confirmation that they're good to go.

Already now I know though that olin0111 and TheGrayMouser have not been around for quite some time, so we'd need two replacements for them at least.

Anybody interested? One will (have to) team up with me as the Romans, and the other will be a Samnite. 😀

VVI: Update

Post by kronenblatt »

I've received good-to-go confirmations from the following:
Roman: kronenblatt
Etruscan: Aetius39 and Malabar26
Greek: deeter and TomoeGozen
Gaul: Karvon and dim30
Samnite: TheGrayMouser and shane30

Still missing are:
Roman: olin0111 (kronenblatt as reserve)

Like I said earlier, if worse comes to worse, I could take on olin0111's Roman army.

This said, if there are any additional players who'd like to join as Roman, please write here or PM me.

Round 4: Order Giving

Post by kronenblatt »

So we're now 9 players confirmed, ready to go. New is shane30, a friend of dim30, taking on Samnite army #10: welcome! I'm currently controlling both Roman armies but will happily give one away to any player wanting to join. :) EDIT: Giacofa93 is joining, taking over Roman army #7. :)

Time has now come for round 4's order giving and movement instructions for the 12 MP each of you have.

Please send to me through replying to my PM by Tuesday, September 14 (midnight, your time) at the latest, and just as a simple sequence of individual moves (e.g., 2 4 2 6 0 6), with no other symbols in between, only blanks (for easy copy-pasting by the administrator).

I won't open any of your PMs (other than my team members', well...) until I have received from everyone and until I have published those of myself and all my team members in a PM to all participants or in the campaign thread. (Your PM's will thus stay in your Outbox until I open them, and to my knowledge that should be safe from me secretly reading it.)

For details, please check Giving orders and Movement in the RULES.

Any questions? Please ask them here, in the tournament thread, for everyone else to see question and answer.

And I'd like to keep reassuring you to not worry in this campaign either: we'll all hold each other's hands to get to know and understand the rules, etc., together. As I've said before: this is for fun, after all! :)

Before I set this up , are the Samnites taking/allowed any allies?
Cheers,

Relevant question. According to the rules (the Allies in engagements part), Samnites can choose Apulian, Campanian, Etruscan, Italian Hill Tribes, and Umbrian as allies, and choose a maximum of 2 such ally units (3 Cities + 2 Towns = 3 x 0.5 + 2 x 0.25 = 1.5 + 0.5 = 2). But ask shane30 what he wants to do, since selecting allies when setting up the games reducing the availability of units in his main army (75% of FP to main army, 25% to allies).

From the rules' Allies in engagements part
  • A faction that controls Towns and Cities in sufficient numbers can use allies in all its engagements (to the extent allies are available in the TT Mod).
  • The number of units from the ally's army list depends on the number of Towns and Cities controlled:
    • Each 2 full (i.e., not part of) Cities controlled and/or each 4 full Towns (i.e., counting half as Cities) allows for 1 ally unit to be selected per engagement.
    • Example: controlling 3 Cities and 3 Towns (equivalent to 1.5 Cities), in total 4.5 Cities, allows for up to 2 ally units.
  • The ally can never be the same army as the opponent in an engagement.
    • Example: when fighting Etruscans in an engagement, Etruscans can not be selected as allies.
  • Using allies is optional for each individual engagement and not at all compulsory, even if sufficient numbers of Cities and/or Towns are controlled.
  • The factions have the following allies allowed:
    • Etruscan 330-280 BC: Samnite 355-272 BC, Umbrian 490-260 BC as allies.
    • Gallic Lowland Tribes 390-301 BC: no allies.
    • Greek (Western) 380-281 BC: no allies.
    • Roman 340-281 BC: Bruttian or Lucanian 420-203 BC, Campanian 420-281 BC as allies.
    • Samnite 355-272 BC: Apulian 420-203 BC, Campanian 420-281 BC, Etruscan 330-280 BC, Italian Hill Tribes 490-275 BC, Umbrian 490-260 BC as allies.
    • Umbrian 490-260 BC: Etruscan 330-280 BC, Samnite 355-272 BC as allies.
    • Carthaginian 340-281 BC: Greek (Western) 380-281 BC as allies.
    • Syracusan 412-281 BC: Greek (Western) 380-281 BC, Kyrenean Greek 460-322 BC, Libyan 549-301 BC as allies.

Greek army #5 (TomoeGozen, 1523 FP (1493 FP + 30 FP from City)) versus Samnite army #10 (shane30, 1522 FP).

A hard fought battle that saw the Greeks take an early, commanding, lead as the Samnites seemed to have forgotten to bring their pila with them(not a single impact went their way in the first half!) Unfortunately for the Greeks the Samnites got a late delivery of pila and in the second half of the game many Greeks started to fall under the seemingly never ending Samnite charges. Enough damage had been done by the Greeks in the first half though to just about survive... Final score 62 - 48 to the Greeks.
Thanks to shane30 for a great game.

@TomoeGozen: Thanks for report. As a result of their victory, Greeks take control over Telesia. Do you want to advance into the hex of the losing Samnite army #10?

@shane30: In which of the Samnite-controlled structures would you like your losing Samnite army #10 to reappear?

("An army having lost a battle is removed from its hex and placed (at its player's choice) in a controlled structure along its faction's logistics lines at least 2 hexes away, or in any of its capitals (if controlled). If none of that is possible, the army is irrevocably eliminated.")
