Re: TEAM LISTINGS ICONS AND BIOGRAPHIES BY 26 AUGUST
Introducing……
UK TEAM 3 – “INGLORIOUS BRITS”
Team Icon – the banner of the Thomas Family
And a picture of our spiritual leader….the legendary Terry-Thomas. Our armies field this as an icon into battle…..
Players
Challenge1 - period 1 (600 BC to 100 BC)
Challenge1 has been playing wargames since the days of WRG, SPI and Avalon Hill. Greatest passion is probably Napoleonics but Ancients runs a close second. As well as on-line gaming, he is an active boardgamer in a local community in Berlin. Challenge1 is also an admirer of Caesar's writing style!
Morbio - period 2 (99 BC to 499 AD)
By day Morbio works in IT for a big American multinational focusing on mergers and acquisitions. He has had an interest in military interest since childhood, but only participated in wargaming with the launch of FoG digitial. Hobbies other than wargaming include online gaming, particularly World of Warcraft.
Morat - period 3 (500 AD to 1010 AD) (Captain)
A late arriver to Field of Glory, Morat honed his fighting style with minatures (English Civil War through Napoleonics to WWII). Morat is a devoted fan of “if in doubt, get stuck in” school of gaming (think Beresford at Albuera). Hobbies beyond gaming include science-fiction (hence the name – for those that have read Iain M Banks) music (guitar) and rugby – as a qualified referee.
ianiow - period 4 (1011 AD to 1300 AD)
By day ianiow is a humble postman, by night he leads great armies and crushes nations beneath his sandaled feet. From rolling marbles at plastic Airfix soldiers through to Donald Featherstone, WRG7th, DBM, FOG and digital FOG1 & 2 his reign of terror seems relentless. Hobbies other than wargamming include archery and geneology, claiming direct descent from Lady Godiva (29th Great grandmother) the ancient Kings of Wessex, England.

No-Nonsense Norse (Team Sweden/Norway)
Bonded by common viking ancestry and almost a century of post-Napoleonic unionship, these northmen will aim to shock and awe their opponents with berserker-style aggressive tactics!

Andréas (kronenblatt) is a rookie in the FoG2 world, joining only in August 2020, but an artefact and fossil when it comes to number of forum posts produced (2000+) during that brief period. His fingers are compulsively charge-trigger happy putting him and his units in awkward situations, which contrasts his obsession with Excel spreadsheet and the data and statistics therein. He manages a number of tournaments, successfully administratively but less so when it comes to his own battles.
Anders (hidde) participated in the very first LOEG season back in 2010. Took part in every season that followed and have continued to do so with the successors, FOGDL & FOG2DL. His battle tactics can often be condensed into the motto of Swedish Carolean army; "Gå på" ("Forward!" or literally "Go On").
Olaf (schmolywar) I have played FOG2 tourneys since the beginning. Im also currently in the Valor & Victory tournament. I usually go for the most infantry when selecting my forces and always carefully consider the terrain before employing. My first pbem game was Steel Panthers 2 in the 90s and progressed from there to Combat Mission.
Patrik (pagu05) age 53. I have played turn based games both IRL and computer-games for years. Played Pike and Shot, FOG2 and the latest Medival for couple of years. I am very interested in history in general and military history in particular especially WW II.
Erland (Mitotyn) Team Captain Started playing board wargames as a teenager in the eighties. Many years later mainly focused on WW2 and Ancient/medieval on PC. Pike & Shot got me interested in Fog2/Empires and i am now firmly hooked. Just joined my first tournament and my ”Hit them where they are” style of play has so far brought both wins and losses…

USA Team 2 – Pershing’s Pikes
Daniel Weitz (ulysisgrunt)
He is so old, that he knew someone who charged with a lance on horseback in 1914….
He has charitably been described as ‘older than dirt’…
He has been wargaming for 63 years, and has never seen a position that he was not confident he could take by assault.
As was said of John Snow….”he knows nothing”….
Don Owens (gort7078) Oxford, MS, USA. Retired history teacher and coach. Avid wargamer and team player. Willing to help anyway I can to help my team win!
Michael McMann (ratprince)
Disabled retired veteran
Ex armor crewman
Wargamer for 40 years
Master of Education in History and Economics
Activist and Philanthropist
Barrold713
U.S. Navy Nuclear Program - Machinist Mate/ELT for 6 years
First computer Commodore 128 to play SSI Battle of Gettysburg and Antietam
Current laboratory system administrator and analyst for a large hospital system in mid-Michigan
Enjoys playing FoG II, Combat Mission, WitE2, and several other games.
Klay or Uber klay depending on your perspective (klayeckles) is a semi-retired City Engineer that grew up on tabletop wargames to survive the harsh minnesota winters. When tabletop FOG came out he became a founding member of the Barbarian Lead Junkies, and pushed lead until FOG 1 arrived. The computer versions of FOG are so good it's hard to go back to pushing lead...so it might just have to be converted into lead sinkers for the fishing box!
Harvey (harveylh) Team Captain has been wargaming for over 40 years including original FOG with miniatures at many Historicon conventions and WRG 7th edition/DBM/FOG tournaments across the US. Then he was introduced (corrupted?) to multiplayer FOG2/Digital League by ulysisgrunt. Like Klay no longer pushing lead figures!

Stop holding your breath everyone, here's team USA 3!
Hell On Wheels
Doesn't get more American than this!
Our Motto: "Mayhem In Motion"
Period 1 - deeter
Period 2 - Aetius (captain)
Period 3 - Karvon
Period 4 - pbuck777
Reserve - rpadilla1988
Bios:
deeter - At a young age, Deeter was instilled with a hatred of all things Roman which he indulged from painting barbarian armies in miniature to bashing heads on a PC. These interests came together when FOG was released as a computer game. Deeter's personal motto: Carne diem -- Seize the meat.
Aetius - A bit newer at the wargaming stuff than a lot of people here, but loving it no less! When I was real young I got cool Avalon Hill games for the holidays, although I hardly played them as no one around me wanted to! Now though I can play to my heart's content online. Love Civ series and Crusader Kings 2, besides regular rpg stuff. Likes drinking, poker, and swearing at the computer screen when things go awry in FoG 2.^^
Karvon - Wargamer for over 50 years, starting with AH/SPI and WRG 3rd. Played through all editions of WRG and DBM. Set up and ran PBEM tourneys for DBM using Cyberboard for a number of years. Regular in the FOG2 DL. Organizer of Chaos and Little Wars tourneys for FOG2. Enjoy playing the guitar, reading history and watching NFL.
pbuck777 - Steely eyes stare at all opponents, unnerving everyone; they telepathically know his bio and now are terrified.

Re: TEAM LISTINGS ICONS AND BIOGRAPHIES BY 26 AUGUST
Ladies and Gentlemen. Boys and Girls of all ages. Nerds of all Shapes and Sizes. Can I have your attention please?!
Coming to you from the gaming laptops of a handful of middle aged men spread across the United States of America, it is..........
USA Team 1 - The First Continental LEGIONNNNNNNNNNN
. .
Formed by a team of modern American history dorks who traveled back to Roman times just to train with Julius Caesar himself, and who then time jumped forward to 1776 just in time to join the Revolution (and sing a couple tunes with Alexander Hamilton), the Big 1 L was the Continental Army's best of the best of the best. And never once threw away their.......shot.
. .
Fighting on the front lines with nothing but sword and shield, the 1st Continental Legion was unstoppable. No Brit could withstand their onslaught; no Hessian could bring their mustache within gladius range; no Frenchman could deny their fashion sense. And when the day was done, and the battle won, the 1st Continental Legion proved the veracity of regimental motto: "Bless Your Rolls, And Pass Your Cohesion Checks!"
And now Four masters of their craft, specializing in four different time periods, are coming here to the World Team Championship to troll
the UK Teams and win some gold medals. U! S! A! U! S! A!
First up is the Legion's Artistic Director: NYCZAR!!! Creator of the fancy uniforms that amazed and delighted the French (especially Lafayette), nyczar brings a necessary element of humility to the normally bombastic team. But humility will be in short supply when nyczar dives into the turbulent waters of Period 1 and puts his Antigonid pike training to use. Here is nyczar in his own words during the pre-time jump interview:
"Hard to believe that I've been playing FOG II now for almost 4 years and I am still learning! None of the other 47 titles in my steam library are as engrossing for me as FOG II. After playing one form of board game or PC game after another, I bought the FOG table top rules book in 2008 and only dreamed of painted men-at-arms, respectful banter, good beer, and yelling at dice. I was all in when FOG2 was released and I am looking forward to representing the flag in a contest for worldwide bragging rights!"
Next up is the Legion's Master Chief: snooky51......also known as Snooky-the-Rooky. But don't let his relative youth fool you ladies and gentleman, this hunk of hoplites spends his days on the (American) football field pushing other large fellows around. And now he's ready to push some armies around in the Late Antiquity of Period 2. Listen to the man yourself from his post-tackle pre-time jump interview:
"I am likely in the youngest cohort of the WTC (under 30) and I'd put money on being the least experienced wargamer: I've been playing proper wargames for 16 months, outside of playing 1 match of advanced squad leader against another 1st time player, prior to buying this game in April 2020 I never played miniatures or anything more complex than risk. (I'm not gonna count TW or paradox games but I've logged time in those since childhood). My largest margin of victory in this game was my first ever DL match (5th against an actual person) and been chasing that high ever since."
And what would a team be without its CAPTAIN.......the man, the myth, the not quite a legend (yet): Geffalrus. Known in the Digital League as the Antigonid Weirdo, the Professor of the Pike, the Sage of the Sarissa, the Duke of the Diadochi.......Geffalrus is usually found in Period 1 refining the finer points of phalanx tactics. But not this time ladies and gentlemen; this time, the Geffalrus will be taking his talents to Period 3 and the Early Middle Ages. With no pikes to be found, can he find his footing, or will he be trampled beneath the iron hooves of many, many lancers?
Stay tuned to find out............
Last.......but certainly not least, is the Venerable Veteran: edb1815. No word on whether or not that collection of letters and numbers is his home wifi password. A steady presence in the DL for many, many years, edb1815 is ready to bring his experience to bear anchoring the Legion's flank in Period 4 in the Wild Wild West that is..........THE HIGH MIDDLE AGES. With a meta currently dominated by Berbers and Irish, neither of whom rely on the knight unit that is - supposed - to be the premier unit of this era, literally anything could happen. Meme armies could become dominant; meta armies could become trash; forums could descend into absolute chaos as scientists work feverishly to find a way to bring balance to the Force of Knights. Help us edb1815, you are our only hope.
And now, some words from the wily warrior himself:
"I have been involved with war games one way or another for 40 years starting out with board games, then on to tabletop miniature gaming while in the US Army as an Armor officer in the 1980s. Active in the Historical Miniatures Gaming Society HMGS (East) since the 1990s. Favorite periods: Age of Sail and Napoleonics. Started playing in Field of Glory tabletop tournaments when the game was released in 2008. I still have a few 15mm armies for FOG but moved on to other games. In the last few years, I have focused on PC wargames, collecting various titles and playing in the Digital League since FOGII was released. Looking forward to the late medieval DLC with Wars of the Roses and Hundred Years War armies!"
Special Reserve of SHADOW WARRIORS to be activated ONLY in an emergency:
- rrrttt354
- infinitude
Their skills: unknown. Their power: unfathomable. Pray that we are not forced to unleash them upon this world.
----------
And with that ladies and gentlemen, it is time for all of us to harden our hearts, sharpen our swords, screw our courage to the sticking place, and in the immortal words of Sun Tzu: ADDED TO TEAMS DATA

Their skills: unknown. Their power: unfathomable. Pray that we are not forced to unleash them upon this world.

And with that ladies and gentlemen, it is time for all of us to harden our hearts, sharpen our swords, screw our courage to the sticking place, and in the immortal words of Sun Tzu: ADDED TO TEAMS DATA

Rest of the World 2
MorkinTheFree - Period 1
51 year young, likes beer and basketball.
phlewis - Period 2
I have played table top miniatures games since I was introduced to Edition 4 of Wargames Research Group Ancient Warfare rules. My love of history began when I read Xenophon's The Persian Expedition when I was 8 years old. It's amazing how much fun reading history is when you think it's an adventure story. I believe I have played table top miniature games in every period from ancient to science fiction. If I've missed one it isn't for lack of trying. These days I mostly play digital games as it is hard to find local physical games.
Zawzgrzyt - Period 3
"Polish living in Ireland. In the middle of his forties discovered FOG2 and began to enjoy playing toy soldiers again. I work professionally, digging in the ground in search of treasures from the past (mainly old bones and no one needed rubbish)."
gort7078 - Period 4
Retired history teacher and coach. Taught and coached for 42 years and have played wargames since I was eight. Love the competition and the comradery!
dragmio - Reserve and Captain
A history buff and a veteran of numerous computer wargames. A beginner of FOG II. But I have played FOG I quite a lot.

Team Europe 2
Cpl_Uhl --> Period 1
MarcoCato75 --> Period 2
Mr cholo --> Period 3, Captain
Blagrot --> Period 4
Bios
Blagrot
I was only a lad with a few GW Orks to my name when I saw some old gits pushing tokens with funny names on them around and complaining their troops didn't listen to them. I figured I could complain with the best of them and have bounced between a large number of games since then - tabletop, electronic and a couple of fusions of both, never really sticking with any one system or army long enough to actually find out if I'm any good at them but I am definitely persistent.
Mr Cholo
When I was young I played Age of Empires 2 and I used to play similar videogames as Total War and similar. When I grew up I dismissed this kind of games due to they were not interesting for my expectations. Fortunately I found FoG2 and I am glad for playing this game.

Re: TEAM LISTINGS ICONS AND BIOGRAPHIES BY 26 AUGUST
Australian Team B
Agema Australis
Captain: vakarr – Period 1
Army: Thracian (Hellenistic) 350-281 BC with Antigonid 320-301 BC allies.
Christopher Webber lives in the Blue Mountains and is a reluctant retiree, having been made redundant from his job in 2020. Before that, he worked in IT support for 15 years. He is the world expert on Thracian warfare and has published two books and several articles about the Thracians. He became interested in the Thracians and ancient history as a result of playing the Tony Bath Hyboria campaign in 1981-83, using WRG 6th edition rules. He wrote the Thracian army lists in Field of Glory 2 and ten Field of Glory 2 Campaigns. He was co-designer of the Decision Games Operation Sealion game in World at War issue 52. He is currently writing a history of search & rescue operations in the Blue Mountains.
markleslie – Period 2
Army: ARAB (CITY) 300 - 633 AD with SASSANID PERSIAN 477 - 590 AD allies
Know, oh prince, that between the years when the oceans drank Atlantis and the gleaming cities, and the years of the rise of the Sons of Aryas, there was an Age undreamed of, when shining kingdoms lay spread across the world like blue mantles beneath the stars. Hither came markleslie, the Equivocator , brown haired, squinty eyed, a sneaker, a flanker, a delayer, with gigantic conceits and gigantic girth, to tread the jeweled thrones of Earth under his sandaled feet.
Rob123 – Period 3
Army: Byzantine 600-649AD with Sassanid Persian 591-628 AD allies.
I live in Melbourne.
I first started playing board wargames when I was in high school. I have continued playing them ever since. Visiting CanCon the National Convention many times as a visitor and several times as a participant in the board game competition. Around this time I was also a partner involved in Australia's largest PBM company and we would run a stand there. I still play multiplayer wargames with mates when we manage to catch up several times a year. I only moved onto computer games about seven years ago.
I worked as a Technical Coordinator In the Pathology teaching laboratories at a university until I retired 18 months ago. I enjoy bushwalking and bird watching.
General Shapur – Period 4
Army: Berber (Murabit) 1087-1147 AD
Lives in Perth, Western Australia. Currently a Pharmacist in rural WA. A keen martial artist with 4th DAN in Iaido and Jodo and 3rd DAN in Kyudo. I speak Japanese (a little), which comes in handy. A life-long board wargamer and play-tester/contributor to SSG titles with scenarios like Stalingrad Pocket, Operation Spark, Sealion and Operation Konrad.
