Your most turns in a game.
What was your higher number of turns in a single game?

Re: Your most turns in a game.
45+ turns in Chaironeia (Romans v Pontics), I don't remember exactly as I have blotted many of the traumatic details from memory
My opponent (who knew that epic battles didn't have turn limits - I did not know that until this match) ran almost his entire Pontic army onto the rough terrain plateau with difficult slopes in the top-left corner of the map (as viewed from the Roman side.)
I had to essentially conduct a siege operation with my legionaries and eventually ground his army down for a victory (or he surrendered, I forget which.)
That experience permanently soured me on playing epic battles in multiplayer - maybe I should start a thread titled, "The problem of epic battles", with the unlimited turns being the main problem

Re: Your most turns in a game.
I have thought in the past that maybe regular league and standard MP games should be a bit longer than 24 turns. Perhaps 28 turns. From time to time the maps are large and armies can be on opposite sides. There can be a lot of manoeuvring to get past rough ground or hills, etc. Out of 18 league games I only had 1 game that we couldn’t finish, though.

I am having the same experience. I didn't knew before this battle that epic battles have unlimited turns. Actually, I thought our game was going to finish at turn 24 without casualties. My opponent, who is a very good player, spent a lot of time moving to one side of the map and then making a box against one side of the border, so I couldn't use my cav and elephants superiority. I was annoyed by this tactic, but I decided to endure, and we are having a fun game... at turn 50 +, with our wings being destroyed... a static game has become a snowball of destruction rolling downhill... I can say that at this point the fact to have waited and not quitted has made the game more special for me.ray552 wrote: ↑Wed Aug 25, 2021 3:20 am 45+ turns in Chaironeia (Romans v Pontics), I don't remember exactly as I have blotted many of the traumatic details from memory

To be honest, I don't like camping strategies or boxes, but that's my point of view and some players that incurr in those tactics can be very good players who don't see any reason no to put them in practice. At the end, this is a game in which players are not forced to act accordingly to the other player expectatives!

Re: Your most turns in a game.
I played 70 turns in an epic battle once; my opponent wanted to keep playing but I said no mas--IIRC he was 5-10 points ahead at that point but both sides had dealt some damage. I forget the name of the battle, but I had a lot of cats, other cav, and archers and my opponent was Roman; my units were trying to find weak points while he marched in a big block across the huge map.
[EDIT] I think the battle was Emesa...
I don't understand why epic battles don't have any time limits, it can make some of these battles a bit ridiculous...

I think that historical scenarios should be situational rather than open ended. As of now, they’re basically custom games with preset oob and map.
