Refinements for Heroic Showdown Challenge

The Heroes assigned via the Heroic Showdown Challenge seem to be a bit random resulting in pointless Hero+Unit combinations.

(Quick aside : Would it be possible to assign heroes to units deployed during the scenario as well? The reinforcements and the like)

As such, here are my suggested refinements.

First, in general, no doubling up of Hero/Unit traits. So no point is allowing an AT Support Hero to be assigned to a unit that has AT Support.

Second, for the traits themselves the following Unit+Hero combination restrictions :


• AASupport
- Disallowed for units with 0 Air Attack.

• Alpine, +4 attack and +4 defense in hills and mountains
- Is there such a hero outside of special ones? If not disallowed for Air and Naval Units.

• ArtySupport
- Disallowed for Air Units

• ATSupport
- Disallowed for Air Units

• BlockSupply, "Adjacent enemy units cannot get supplies or replacements"
- Disallowed for Air Units

• Camouflage, Can only be detected by recons or adjacent ground units
- Disallowed for Air and Naval Units (I think?)

• CarpetBombing, Destroys supplies (fuel and ammo) when attacking
- Disallowed for Land and Naval Units

• CheapReplacements, "Replacements in battle cost as on deployment phase"
- Will never be assigned (its real advantage manifests for a persistent Core fighting a campaign)

• CityFighter, "Combat bonus in city terrain"
- Disallowed for Air and Naval Units

• CombatLuck, "Combat results can never be worse than predicted"
- Will never be assigned (this really is a player-facing trait)

• CounterBattery, Provides support fire against enemy artillery units in range
- Disallowed for any unit that doesn't have Artillery Support

• DeepKnowledge, "+5 attack against units which were introduced X+ years ago"
- Is this a real Hero Trait?

• DoubleSupport
- Disallowed for units that do not have a Support Trait

• EntKiller2
- Disallowed for units that already have some level of Entrenchment Killer

• EntKiller3
- Disallowed for units that already have some level of Entrenchment Killer
• EntKiller4
- Disallowed for units that already have some level of Entrenchment Killer

• Envelopment, "Prevents enemy units from retreating, so they surrender instead."
- Disallowed for Ranged Fire units, Air Units and Naval Units

• Famous, "Generates 10 prestige per turn"
- Will never be assigned (is a Player Core-oriented trait)

• FastDeployment, "Can unmount from organic transport after movement"
- Disallowed for Air and Naval Units

• FastEntrenchment, "Gets 2x entrenchment speed"
- Disallowed for Air and Naval Units

• FastLearner, "2x faster experience growth"
- Will never be assigned (is a Player Core-oriented trait)

• FighterSupport
- Only for Air Units

• ForcedMarch, +1 move point, cool down 3 turns
- Is this a Hero Trait? If so, only Non-rifleman infantry can get it

• HitAndRun, "When attacked, enemy units with lower initiative do not shoot back"
- Disallowed for Artillery

• IncMaxOverstrength, Adds 5 to max over strength.
- Also automatically increases current strength to new maximum on scenario start/unit deployment

• LastStand, "Ignores all penalties from encirclements"
- Disallowed for Air/Naval Units

• Legendary, "Generates 20 prestige per turn"
- Will never be assigned (is a Player Core-oriented trait)

• LethalAttack, "50% suppression caused by this unit is converted to kills"
- Only for units with the Suppressive Fire Trait

• Liberator, "2x prestige for all flags captured by this unit"
- Will never be assigned (is a Player Core-oriented trait)

• ReducedSlots, "Unit slot cost is reduced by 50%"
- Will never be assigned (is a Player Core-oriented trait)

• RiverAssault, "Ignores combat penalties from rivers"
- Quite situational. I'd advise never assigning it so that more useful heroes can be assigned.

• Splitter, "Unit can be split without spending an extra unit slot."
- Will never be assigned (is a Player Core-oriented trait)

• ZeroSlots, "Unit slot cost is reduced to zero"
- Will never be assigned (is a Player Core-oriented trait)
