adjusting the difficulty level ..

Post by Patrick Ward »

So a regular question, in one form or another, is how you can adjust the difficulty level to your taste beyond simply selecting one of the 5 base levels. Or sometimes people are drowning in prestige, running out too quickly or are overwhelmed by all the traits and their combinations.

Edmon has put together a quick run down of some traits and options that might help you adjust your game either way, as well as discussing a cracking new feature he helped to design. It doesn't cover every trait or combination because that would take days but hopefully there's a nugget or two we can all take away.

Love the idea of limited supply and I cannot wait to see how Edmon approaches his next campaign with that feature. It certainly increases the value of captured equipment; even the lesser equipment that most of us never use.

As someone who loves to play versions with some unique restrictions that was a really informative video, considering some of the points made about specific traits making the game easier or harder totally outside the difficulty levels. I agree with that conclusion that the levels do not really represent an increased or decreased difficulty, it's just about economy. I tried a ultimately cancelled AAR idea on Generalissimus some time ago and aside from slightly unfavorable combat predictions in cases where the odds were previously equal it did not change anything about the game play. I was still getting good amounts of prestige and did not feel like it was better or worse. But traits and challenges are really something else and some combinations could be brutal (Ruthless+Limited Supply+Collector).

That said, I strongly encourage anyone to try out also some challenges aside from pure difficulty settings and delve into historical options, imposing a restraint on getting all the best units for each role and trying out units one normally does not buy at all just for the experimental value. This can also make things a lot more interesting and unique.

I just tried using limited stock for AO40 and noticed that there are not any transports available for anything that requires them. I referred back to Edmons video, where he demonstrates this using infantry, and there were no transports shown. Too bad, as my 88’s wont travel very far without them.

You should also check the comments, he did answered that it was not intended to affect transport and will be fixed.

I'm trying a new AO campaign with RACE AGAINST TIME and DAVID VS. GOLIATH, really fun ^^

I wanted to test limited stock with this, but no trasnport...(this easily detectable bug and the unexpected change in the rules of the parachutists really disappointed me at the time ^^)

This issue is fixed and will be in the next patch, coming soon™

Edmon I'm sorry but it is since the release of the AO42 dlc on July 9th that you write that the patch will be out soon ... we would like to know what exactly that means “soon”!

A patch is coming and I am aware of a lot of the things in that patch being ready, but I can't give you an exact release date yet. That is what I mean by "soon".

Thats the latest information i have read:
Patrick Ward wrote: Sat Aug 14, 2021 6:22 pm At the time of writing we haven't got an internal ETA so won't be providing a public one.
Its from 8 days ago. (14th august)

So i would assume...it will take some time, and maybe we wont get a date until the Update is out. Dunno, Im waiting patiently. I would love to play PC2 again after 6 (?) weeks of not playing it, but well i can wait some weeks more ;) Im playing (and really enjoying!) Battlesector at the moment, thats a great game aswell. In a world of perfect timing, i will finish my battlesector campaign on company captain difficulty and the update comes out, so that i can return to my beloved PanzerCorps2 ;)
But uhm, im not Edmon so i will need some more time for Battlesector

But maybe (!) @'Kerensky' @'Edmon' or @'Patrick Ward' are allowed to tease us a little with some changelog infos ;)

I love the idea of limited stock, this will definitely give us more to consider when building our core force. With the number of missions in the AO campaigns, the numbers will rack up pretty quickly though. Is it possible to get 20 of each type when it's first available and then 5 or 10 after each subsequent mission?

'Soon' is as deliberately nebulous as it sounds.

Unfortunately, like a run of bad luck on dice, Panzercorps has been hit by the pandemic yet again. This has resulted in a delay to the tournament and the release of the 42 DLC patch. As the publishers, all we can do is support the devs and put their recovery first.

From your side, nothing has changed as we hadn't released an ETA. From ours and the devs sides its excrutiating as we were literally a few days from announcing one. But such is life. Some things are more important than games.

So nothing has changed. No ETA for the 42 patch other than... 'soon'.

Thanks Pat, yes I agree some things, as health, are more important than games. I wish pc2 team to resolve health and quarantine issues first!
