Ok guys, we released 2.1 so you would have it for the weekend. Feel free to give the English Baron's war armies a spin, we had some real fun with them.

Next week we will go to the Abbasid resurgence armylist and the Albigensian list.

Really like this mod and I have a few suggestion:
When you trying to set up a custom game the different versions of the mod have the same name in the list of modules, it would be better to add a version number after the mod name, because now it's not clear which of them is the newest.
And second one, since the main game recently have changed Russian faction name to Rus, it would be nice to see Rus instead of Russia in this mod too, alongside with changed unit names and faction discription as it happened in the main game.

Given that the official Swords & Scimitars was announced, most of the mod ended up as a sort of competitor to the original developers. :?

We'll see how we shall proceed, but we might decide to leave just the armies that are not included in the dlc, and those for which we introduced major changes or new units.

Hey there, I have the mod installed in my docs/modfolder but I cannot seem to access the new army lists. I have both DLCs. What am I doing wrong? Is it for a previous FOGM version?

Ah I see, I can get it in custom battle but I was hoping to do a sandbox campaign with it. Is that not possible? Could I copy it over the base game files and try it that way?

Heres some new units ive been working on, redid the Indian units to give em shirts and sorta turbans so they look more medieval. Made an armored indian elephant. Georgian Knights. Varangian Guard with axes. Mongol heavy lancers and horse archers. 3 new indian cavalry units. And added silk tunics for Ghilman so they dont look the same as the expert horse archers.

The Eastern Wind Mod has been set up as a Custom Battles module, to make it work as a Campaigns module needs a bit of work. Fortunately, it is quite easy.

Open one of the main games Campaign folders, the AlexanderNevskyCampaign will do. Then copy the Data folder, the Campaign.BSF and the CAMPAIGN.TXT files. Then paste them into the EASTERNWIND 2.1 folder, overwriting the existing folders and files. I have not tested it, but it should work.

Of course, by doing that the Eastern Wind Mod will no longer work as a Custom Battles module. So if you still want a Custom Battles module, create a copy of it and rename it as Eastern Wind Campaigns, and then copy and paste all the files that I described above.

I installed as instructed but first could not find the mod inside the game. It only appears, when English language is selected.

The same is probably true for all mods, both for FoG2 Medieval and Ancients. Correct me if I am wrong, but I don't remember seeing any mod/user created scenario that have the text files translated.

I had this problem never before. For instance TTmod or Silk Road works fine with German language. The names of the new unit are just in English. But the problem with Eastern Winds is, that it does not appear in the mod selection, when I want to start a Custom Battle (in the list when you click on this small icon next to army selection). It only appears when I switch to English.

Ah, I see what has gone wrong here. The Eastern Wind mod creators have left all the vanilla text files in the mod, including all the translated text files. So when you look at the game in German the mod is there, but it is called "Der feudale Norden", just like the vanilla main game scenarios!

All these highlighted files should be deleted:

cheers

Paul

PS; they should also delete all the other text files that haven't been edited for the mod. There is no point having them in the mod if they don't contain any new information.

Sorry, we weren't planning to release in any except English. Should have stated so in the first post. Our bad.

The new DLC added most of the armies that were included in our mod. The ones that we have in the mod (othe rthan the bonus early 14c.) that are not in the dlc are:
  • Wendish Slavs 1000-1168 AD
    Qara Khitans
German Frontier Marches (Styria, Austria, Carinthia)
    Sicilian Molsem States
There are also a few extra units from our mod that we will "migrate" into the DLC armies (Afghan foot, Ahdath miliias, Nestorian foot, Halqa cav etc.)

So in effect the mod will shrink from something quite large to what is essentially a small improvement pack, as the DLC covered most of what we set out to do. 8)
