Re: Field of Glory II: “Rome against the World” - Tournament
Frustrating? My gut feeling is a lot more than that against my present opponent. Something similar happened many years ago in a DBM TT tournament, when my opponent was deliberately (he even told me) playing incredibly slowly. I had a quick look at other tournaments and I'd say approx 95% of games are completed. Everybody knows what is expected of them and so should only enter if they know they can play the games. Once more if players do not complete their games, go awol, then Slitherine should be even more ruthless and ban them, fine them, maybe a public whipping:)

Spot on...SnuggleBunnies wrote: ↑Sat Jul 03, 2021 7:46 pm The great attraction of these tournaments is everybody playing with the same factions on the same maps and learning from one another. As vehicles for competition though, they can be really frustrating.
I am awaiting the finish of England vs Ukraine before I can watch your latest YouTube video.
For me I would love to see how different players tackled the same challenge.
Dicky is letting me down as he is well behind his YouTube videos of the tourney.

EXCELLENT to see that Eric and w2512494748 are playing turns... I would love to see those two games being played out. A big THANKYOU to the cuddly Rabbit for uploading his games, always a joy to watch...

Hey Holien Actually I think this is a great idea, either on screen or (maybe easier to impliment ) in the message you get on the multiplayer screen. personally I am not sure what the existing countdown timer shows I think its hours left til the end of the competion and that is not particularly useful (given the end date time is published anyway and most people know what day it is!)Holien wrote: ↑Thu Jun 10, 2021 8:28 amUsing the clock is a great idea but perhaps it could be a bit more transparent to players by clearly showing on screen the times left to both player? This would then help players check what time they have left to do turns? Perhaps been suggested already but transparency can avoid situations like above? Of course it could be there already but to my eyes I can see now easy way of knowing what my time limit is vs the oppo...rbodleyscott wrote: ↑Mon Jun 07, 2021 12:33 pmThe way the system works, the tournament server simply counts up the total time the game spent in each player's in-tray during the round. If the game times out, the player who had the game in his in-tray for the longer total time during the round gets marked as timed out, and, if there have been less than 18 turns played each during the round, the scores are adjusted accordingly.Geffalrus wrote: ↑Mon Jun 07, 2021 11:24 am I am formally requesting an appeal of the point allocation for my round three matches with bomber23. I don't know why, but the game message strongly implied that - I - was the one who was not taking my turns rapidly enough, and that is fundamentally inaccurate.
