Well done! I was wondering if those Above Average phalangites hit the sweet spot between cost and efficiency...

Thanks guys. SB yes about the pikes. I think though that players who have used it before bought a lot more Thureophoroi. I always bought 6 x Pikes, 2 x Vet Hast and 3 x Hast and that made a big difference.

Congrats Eric!!! Yes, the combo of a mass of decent pikes plus some Roman infantry backed up by a swarm of medium foot seems rather good.

Division C
Captain Savage Median 626-550 BC defeats lunecastle Achaemenid Persian 553-546 BC 57:30
The Median spearmen managed to rush to the hilltops and get shot to pieces but their own archers scored a stunning victory on the left flank and spears archers and cavalry in the centre managed to confound and blunt the massed Immortal advance by the Persians. The Median light troops carried out a tremendous campaign of distraction and shielding. The left flank was the battle winner when two disrupted Sparabara units gathered themselves together (and Rallied at the same time) and flung themselves downhill onto the shields of the advancing Persians. Some quick breaks and the panic spread. The laurels go to the lowly Sparabara for this one, with a bad start they recovered to win the day. Great game to finish on. thanks to lunecastle for scaring me with the massed immortals.

Division D
Kerait (Kingdom of Sicily 1155-1193 AD with Italian (Ghibelline) 1155-1199 AD allies) defeats carpenkm (Anglo-Norman 1072-1154 AD with Welsh (North) 1100-1295 AD allies) 42-4.
Thanks for the game! The collapse of a single Welsh unit precipitated a disastrous shock to morale in the English lines. Meanwhile, English armoured units disintegrated under Sicilian marksmanship, whether Saracen or Christian.

Division D
Blagrot - Roman 199-106 BC with Spanish 330-10 BC allies beat Conteshard - Armenian Tigranes 83-69 BC with Pontic 84-47 AD allies 43% - 18%
The rather intimidating Armenian cavalry wing got stuck on a mixture of Triarii, irregulars hiding in trees and an happy elephant leaving their foot to bear the brunt of the fighting, the Greeks and Spanish fighting alongside the Romans struggled but the hastari pointedly explained the difference between them and the imitation legionaries which left the pikes isolated. Thanks for the game, the end came more abruptly than I expected.
