harveylh - Berber (Murabit) 1087-1147 AD defeated ericdoman1 - Irish 1131-1259 AD and Norwegian allies, 61-38
On an open desert map, the Berbers in a hard-fought battle outlasted the Irish. The Irish are hard to kill as they continued to rally including 5 rallies in one turn to prolong the game at the end. Very tough and good game.

More like 5 rallies over 3 to 4 turns but my 38 points is flattering as Harvey had none. Harvey's army build was also very good. I had expected more cavalry but he used the 'Abid al shira as well as all of the "dreaded" Veteram spearmen. However the one thing for all to take note in my 2 HMA games vs "Berber" armies both maps were open desert maps. The other 7 games had a lot more terrain. That was also my last game in HMA so once more thanks to all of my opponents. Very well played in all departments and a deserved victory for Harvey.

Division D
Kerait (Moorish with Byzantine) draws with Sarmation (Sassanid Persian with Arab (Bedouin) 44-35
The contest quickly devolved from a pitched battle to a dispersed set of skirmishes in open fields, with no clear winner emerging from the chaos. Good game!

tyronec (Ghibelline) drew with ConstintinIX (Berber) 0-0.
Cowardly Ghibellines hid in a wood to avoid a fight.
Same observation as Eric, not much terrain and no hills in either of my Berber games - just some sea in the first one and a couple of woods in this.

carpenkm - Palmyran 258-273 AD draws with MarcoCato75 - Roman 285-312 AD with Arab (Bedouin) 300-636 AD allies 34 - 31
Both sides held strong defensive positions and spent the first half of the match staring at each other. Having finished their packed lunches and all the wine they could find, the Palmyrans decided to give it a go. The Romans withdrew further to give them a chance to clear up after lunch and then successfully countered the attack, smashing apart the Palmyran right centre. Despite some successes on the wings the Palmyrans had left it too late and a draw was agreed with 1 turn left giving both sides enough time to get home for a hearty evening dinner.
Well played MarcoCato75 - thanks for the game.

What a game! I grabbed the high ground early and we battled close to the full # of turns. Vikings were down most of the match, but it seesawed a bunch. Thx for the game I enjoyed that tough match.

Morat (Bohemians/Hungarians) beat lunecastle (Welsh/English) 51-26.
Bohemian heavy foot battered their way through the Welsh lines in the centre, while the forces on the right flank did just enough to slow the Welsh flanking moves.
Thanks to lunecastle for a good game, played in a good spirit.

SawyerK with the Urartians fought to a draw with sarmation leading the Assyrians, ending at 54 to 51.
The battle was wide ranging with severe battles on a rough hill and cavalry fighting across an open plain. My compliments to sarmation for a well fought match.

Division C
Captainwaltersavage - German Imperial 1200-1319 AD defeats General Shapur - Anglo-Norman 1072-1154 AD 41:13
Expecting lots of armoured knights I brought my own foot knights and huge numbers of crossbows that I was able to sit on a range of hells that stretched right across my left and centre. Mounted knights mainly on the right but two units on the left. The battlefield was cramped with a river on my right flank I started well back to see what I was facing. The Anglo Normans decided to set up opposite initially and then decided to rapidly move to their right and try to defend a very nice hill on their right flank with a forest shielding their left flank. It then became a battle of two parts - could my left flank hold off the swarm of knights and spears rushing at them and could my right flank catch the rapidly redeploying Anglo-Norman opposite my right flank. Yes and yes were the answers in this case. I thought it had all gone wrong when my two knight units chased some Norman knights off the battlefield leaving my crossbows to face a force of Welsh spearmen. Just before the lopsided battle began the knights from my right flank arrived and proceeded to rampage through the archers and raw spearmen trying to defend the hill. The terrain was definitely in my favour for this one but I have to give this victory to the knights - the Templar knights were superb and well worth the points, arriving at just the right time to finish the battle.
