Believe it or not, I don't have PC2 yet

Hey all, yeah, hard to believe, but Bunny doesn't have Panzer Corps 2 yet.

No real reason, beyond, I've never really worn out the Original.
I'm not against getting it. I guess I've been hoping for a PC2 Gold or something

I've been watching the release of Axis Operations.
And now mention of the Pacific.
I'm curious, and yes, I don't actually know (hard to believe eh, she doesn't know everything ), what is the difference in game experience between the base game, and owning the Axis Operations dlcs?
The base game, on first look is complete. Why get the dlcs other than more is more.

I'm comparing PC2 with Battle Academy 1 and 2. BA1 had the base game, and the dlcs added a lot of fun. BA2 could have gone much further, but appears to have run out of steam.
Now PC2 seems to be similar. But unlike Ba2, it has not run out of steam.

If PC2 is plenty of game, maybe I don't need more. But it depends on what it offers the game. Doesn't the base game already offer the same campaign experience?

I have all of the PC1 series. How radically different is PC2?

After trying the second game I feel no real need to go back to the first one maybe aside from mod campaigns. I really enjoyed Panzer Corps 1, but after playing Panzer Corps 2 I do not feel the urge to replay the first part. Don't get me wrong, it still does some things better, but it has much lower replay value. Panzer Corps 2 and especially the Axis Operations DLC offer much more reasons to play the campaigns several times.

Panzer Corps 2 is essentially, at least for me:

- More mission variety, especially in AO DLC
- Constantly growing amount of units in the game itself, not counting mods, which are more complex here
- A lot of focus on encirclement (but that mechanic can be ignored just fine on lower levels)
- Cooperation with the AI on occasions
- Much more interesting heroes and awards system
- Changes in how support fire works create a more balanced experience
- Modified capturing and prototype mechanics
- Combat is more fast paced and smoother thanks to the new engine
- Really good looks that sometimes can put a strain on an average PC
- Traits and challenges that further help make things unique and each run feel different
- Prestige is now much less of an issue, in fact after some time it is not unheard of to have a lot of it - the difficulty comes form side objectives, powerful units on the opposing end and the way maps themselves are crafted

After the Grand Campaign began appearing for PC1, I NEVER played the vanilla campaigns ever again! While the base campaign is better in PC2 than it is in PC1, I still haven't replayed it since the AO DLCs began releasing. There are lots of reasons why, but I think Tassadar did a pretty good job of laying it out for you already.

I agree completely with Tassadar and AD. I couldn't go back to PC1. The better hero system, the captured equipment mechanic, the better core management, and the encirclement system are each great improvements, and together it's just a quality of play that I can't let go of.

Well you had some good answers.

I add that AO adds more care for your units. Vanilla campaign unit lose not so bad. If you had same unit from start 1936 and it dies in 1942 it's been through lot and earned lot so really gets you.

From another point of view I say longer structure of AO gives you more opportunities to learn and grow.

As for Pz1 still play it. Will continue to. Times when it's simiplness it's just what I want and need. So think both games can be played and enjoyed still.

Base games nice start and then grand campaign add to it and flush it out. That's all I can add.

I grabbed it up today. 40% is a nice treat. The AO files are going to need to wait though

I have all of the PC1 series. How radically different is PC2?

Map is not as bad as old PanzerGeneral3DAssault, but not as good strategic feeling as 2D maps of PC1,
and PC2 2D map is not made to be played with, so it remains buggy.
Still waiting for dev efforts here so I at last can prefer PC2.

You should try the vanilla campaign again, it still plays out great and after xx playthroughs of AO it felt completly "new" to me. Defense of Berlin is still quite hard without "aux force"
