Geffalrus (Antigonids) defeats nyczar (Carthage) 41-5

Initially happy to see another flat open battlefield, the Antigonids got a little worried when they saw the horde of Numidian and Gallic cavalry intent on riding all the way around their left flank. A smattering of random units managed to delay the outflankening while the rest of the Antigonid army (pikes, elephants, and hoplites) went to work. The Elite African infantry stood up to the pikes rather well, but the imitation legions and samnite infantry did not. Combined with some lucky cavalry charges that opened up the Carthaginian left to encirclement and an Antigonid victory.

Showing just how shaky things were getting on the Antigonid left where some veteran hoplites survived all the way to the precipice of autobreaking.

ericdoman1 (Spartan) has finished his matches with another win to set a challenging target of 30 points to beat. 2 players can still do it. klayeckles (Ptolemaic), who has 2 wins from 3 starts including a loss to ericdoman1, needs to get 23 points from his remaining 6 matches; and Geffalrus (Antigonid), who has started with 2 straight wins including a victory over ericdoman1, needs to get 22 points from his remaining 7 matches. Geffalrus has been champion of this section before using the Antigonid army. In Division B hidde (Hannibal in Italy) is moving steadily up the table and should overtake the 2 players in front of him soon, Aetius39 (Lysimachid) and MorkinTheFree (Pontic), as they have both finished their matches now. At the bottom batesmotel (Bosporan) needs just 2 points from 6 matches to relegate rexhurley (Syracusan). He needs 24 points from his remaining 7 matches. Delbruck (Roman) is still in a very strong position in Division D with 5 straight wins. tmac11 (Samnite) has closed the gap to 5 points but he has only 2 matches remaining. There is a similar situation in Division E where a sixth straight win for MarcoCato75 (Seleucid) means that he is almost certain to take the promotion place now. Only a sudden loss of form will open the door to players like DocVanNostrand (Graeco-Bactrian) or Kroche (Seleucid) who he has yet to play. at the bottom bomber23 (Hannibal in Africa) desperately needs wins in his last 2 matches to avoid the drop. In Division F the leader ray552 (Galatian) just needs to avoid heavy defeat in his last match against his only remaining challenger Jack-3kBattery to win automatic promotion. Should Jack-3kBattery win this match 4-0 then he would need 7 points from his last 2 matches to take the promotion place.

Weekly round-up
Snugglebunnies (Jewish Revolt) now needs just 2 points from his last match against ConstantinIX (Byzantine) to become champion after drawing a crucial match with his nearest challenger tyronec (Bosporan) this week. If ConstantinIX were to win that match 4-0 then he could still take the championship if he was able to win all his remaining matches without dropping a point. tyronec can still get to 30 points if Snugglebunnies slips up. And while we are on the subject of slip ups, an unexpected first defeat for dim30 (Roman) in his eighth match means he now needs to beat ninth-placed IMC (Arab City) to take the automatic promotion place from current leader MorkinTheFree (Romano-British). If dim30 fails to win this match then Morbio (Jewish Revolt) will finish top if he decisively beats kraff (Sassanid) in his last match. Not much to report in Division C where 3 players still have a chance of topping the table. Malabar26 (Byzantine) has 5 straight wins, but snooky51 (Parthian) and Conteshard (Bosporan) could still make things difficult for him if they maintain their winning form. Division D is still very much wide open despite new leader Kerait (Moorish) posting his fifth win this week. Although they are all in mid-table at the moment, at least one from Barrold713 (Ancient British), carpenkm (Palmyran) and sarmation (Sassanid) could make a challenge in the second half of the season. In Division E gamercb (Scots-Irish) is maintaining the form that saw him get into the quarter-finals of the KO Tournament with this army and has posted his sixth consecutive win. One more win should be enough to gain automatic promotion ahead of Delbruck (Arab Bedouin), who has an impressive 6 wins from 8 starts.

A bit of a disappointment in Division A where mr cholo has been removed from the tournament because he has had no reliable internet connection for much of the season. It has meant that his win against ericdoman1 (Irish) has been declared void giving ericdoman1 the chance to increase his points tally of 29. Questar17 (Byzantine) is the late replacement and he has quite a lot of experience now at the top level. tyronec (Anglo-Saxon) secured a fourth straight win to move to one point behind second-placed harveylh (Andalusian) with a game in hand, and he looks the most likely to challenge for the championship now. At the bottom there was a welcome first win for MorkinTheFree (Polish) in his seventh match to leave Challenge1 (Viking Ireland) in the relegation place. An eighth straight win for Stew101 (Viking Ireland) means that he has won automatic promotion from Division B. IMC (Arab Umayyad) is currently second with 4 wins from 5 starts and a strong finish could see him win a discretionary promotion to the top flight next season. A second defeat for leader random27 (German) has tightened things up at the top of Division C. Blagrot (Arab Conquest) is 3 points behind with 3 matches in hand, having 4 straight wins to his credit, while snooky51 (Rus) is in third with 4 wins from 5 starts. In Division D, where Giacofa93 (Frankish) has already won promotion, what can I say? Last week I gave the big build-up to Barrold713 (Rus) in his quest for a fourth wooden spoon, but this week he has ruined it all by getting 2 wins and a draw.

A very quiet week all round in Biblical as a lot of the matches have already been played. There was a second win for klayeckles in Division A, who is the only payer who can catch pantherboy now. In Division B kraff scored an important victory against IMC in a relegation battle that also involves edb1815 and lydianed. Nothing happened in Division C where ray552 has already won promotion. In a very tight Division D TomoeGozen moved into second place after defeating carpenkm, while in Division E Kroche narrowly got the better of Badger73 in 2 very hard fought encounters to move into third place.
