This (i.e., a running total of time spent in each player's in-box) would be great if added to the email as well, in addition to the opponent's name. Yes, I know I'm a p-i-t-a, but I really want this to get implemented.kronenblatt wrote: ↑Sat Jul 03, 2021 12:18 pmMaybe that information could be added too in the email?rbodleyscott wrote: ↑Thu Jun 10, 2021 8:55 am It could show a running total of the time spent in each player's in-box so far.

I agree with the above, particularly that the opponent should be identified in the email. Don't know why this hasn't always been so.

There are plans to use the pbem++ with the combat mission cold war game, hopefully that might mean development effort and some tweaks to benefit every one using the system.

Re: More information in MP mail?
Sounds promising. So Combat Mission currently doesn't use PBEM++?
I've also PM'd Mantuvec, PepeSlitherine, and IainMcNeil that information in the PBEM++ emails have actually been more sparse since January. (I'm sure they are aware already but in order to mention that there are some of us wishing more information included in those emails.)

No as it is being assimilated into the Slitherine fold there is discussions about using pbem++kronenblatt wrote: ↑Fri Jul 09, 2021 10:16 amSounds promising. So Combat Mission currently doesn't use PBEM++?

Currently the whole CM range allows pbem via file transfer between the players using say Dropbox. This works well and the players get to keep the files so you get to see the turns again and again until you decide to delete the files.
The upside for using pbem++ is one central place for finding players.
There will no doubt be plenty of headaches trying to shoe horn the two systems together and it might even not happen if too difficult? We will see when Slitherine starts selling Cold War...

Oki, I see. Then I instead hope for more swift development and improvement of the PBEM++ emails rather than waiting for that massive task you mentioned.Holien wrote: ↑Fri Jul 09, 2021 11:55 amNo as it is being assimilated into the Slitherine fold there is discussions about using pbem++kronenblatt wrote: ↑Fri Jul 09, 2021 10:16 amSounds promising. Since information was removed from emails in January, hopefully it's just as easily added back; the one originally removed plus more (as per above).

Re: More information in MP mail?
Nice if that has been updated, I did not get any e-mails for a few turns earlier today, perhaps the system was down while they were adding these features...
I await my next turn to see what the e-mail says...

Re: More information in MP mail?
OK just had a turn but no e-mail so there is an issue in that I am not getting e-mail alerts? Anyone else getting them?

Re: More information in MP mail?
You're right: got three turns back to me after midnight but no e-mails for them. But as late as 11 PM (my Stockholm time), I received an email (regarding FoG2:Medieval) with the new, more informative layout.
Maybe they're just testing it at the moment. But now we know that it's in the process and that it seems to work, which is good.

Re: More information in MP mail?
Actually I'm getting them for FoG2:Medieval (10 minutes ago):
It is now your turn in Field of Glory II: Medieval, to play challenge 'Random Map Battle'.
Opponents: Lennard,kronenblatt
Turn: 3
Regards,
The Slitherine Team
But not for FoG2:Ancients, and then not even when my opponent is rbodleyscott himself.

Re: More information in MP mail?
A very nice man who will no doubt be on it and talking to those who need to know. My oppo has just confirmed he has had no e-mail alert so we will go to plan B and use PM messages when turn sent... These are at least getting through...

Re: More information in MP mail?
I haven't had emails for Ancients, but have for Medieval. I am guessing they are still working on it. I will enquire.

Re: More information in MP mail?
Thanks Richard I guess at that too but the lack of any Tech response is not what I would call professional (forgive me for not calling your response as tech unless you count yourself as 1st line support?)rbodleyscott wrote: ↑Fri Dec 10, 2021 3:40 pmI havn't had emails for Ancients, but have for Medieval. Usually you manage a release to let your customers know what you are planning and when you plan to do it... Is there a place in these forums on that?
I am pleased they are trying to improve the messages, I am less pleased with being treated as a mushroom, a small amount of friendly communication goes a long way to keeping customers happy ...
But perhaps I expect too much?
I will try and find a thread saying what is planned and if they have had issues?

Possibly. Slitherine is a fairly small company.Holien wrote: ↑Fri Dec 10, 2021 3:48 pm Thanks Richard I guess at that too but the lack of any Tech response is not what I would call professional (forgive me for not calling your response as tech unless you count yourself as 1st line support?)

Re: More information in MP mail?
OK thanks for the insight...
I have worked for small and large companies and release management and working with peoples expectations is a fairly straight forward task that does not add too much overhead and wins the IT team a lot of Customer Credit.
Perhaps those in charge might look at it as a Win Win to implement at some stage...
Anyway my days of driving improvements are over and I just get miffed when easy and straight forward things are not done by companies I interact with.
As ever thank you for taking the time to respond and Merry Christmas to you....

The Field of Glory 2: Ancients updates should be working again now. (But only for games updated since the server was patched a short while ago)
