On Steam, it's still the version 9.0.0 (?)

EDIT: now I have Steam 9.0.3

I hope this means what I think it means:
• Add Deployment Mode indicator

And I take this to be a reference to General Data Protection Regulation?
• GDPR Panel

Other than those things, rather a ho-hum patch. Which is not necessarily a bad thing.

By the way, it's available here for download: https://www.matrixgames.com/game/order- ... rld-war-ii

Actually, this may also be of interest, if it means that the feature has been restored. The first time I read this, I thought it meant it had been finally removed altogether (because it hasn't worked for years):

• Unit Upgrade available popup doesn't appear

And no mention of this, which I recently called "the only significant bug that needs to be fixed in version 9.00." That shows you how much I know.  ...

Heh, they certainly have their eye on Free France. Suddenly, several units are available for FF that were previously only listed for France:

Some new units on tap for the next DLC, I see. (I may be "jumping the gun" but look at it this way: It also builds excitement in advance.)

I have to avoid inadvertently using these units in any thing that I am designing, because they are not complete as to graphics or even statistics at this stage. For example, some are missing any control panel images while others have this blurry look about them that is troubling me; it looks like poor quality control (I first noticed it with BB Queen Elizabeth):

Kudos to the developers for finally bringing out a U.S. land-based recon plane, though!

As a matter of fact, I am going to revert to version 9.0.0 to finish Free France 1940-1945. I came this far (I am working on #22 of 24 scenarios) without these additional units; I might as well finish the project without them.

bru888, what is that Free France campaign? Is it a user-made mod or part of a dlc?

Now I am downloading the gigantic 9.0.3 patch which is 1.5GB which seems larger than whole other strategy games. I guess it includes all the updates to the game in one blob so it is big.

Yes, it includes all the updates to the the game in one Monstre Blob...

Unfortunately, there's no mention of fixing this.
It allowed a player to exchange core units with resources and command points in the deployment phase. Added variability to a scenario/campaign start.

Yes, I think that's better. Let's finish it like that (v9.0.0). 8) And we may see later what changes could perhaps still be made. :D

It's not really a mod, it's a custom campaign. :D

Thanks, partner. Yes, right now Free France 1940-1945 is still in development, although 21 (of 24) scenarios are complete and rather well-scrubbed. When it is finished, it will be listed in the Custom Campaigns thread in the Scenario Design forum, with a link to the thread that the Colonel, my co-author, provided.

While I appreciate the additional French units appearing in 9.03 I think it is time the Frenchies got an engineer unit.
(Also, the 'old' Chasseurs Alpins 40 are not available for the start of Fall Gelb (May 10th).

That's the first time I've seen the French in a late war campaign in a game. I guess it is mostly rounding up the routing Germans and retaking large swaths of land in France and Germany.
From what I read, the French commanders were very fretful and refused to work with various allied commanders so they were awkward to deal with.
Anyways, good idea. I want to try this campaign once it is completed. Looks like it is the great bru888 making it.

It's bru888 and ColonelY as co-authors. He wormed his way into my affections with his detailed research and his willingness to repeatedly beta test each scenario. Plus he is a fountain of ideas. :)

Yes, in my humble opinion, we are doing a good job in providing a challenge to the player in the later scenarios even though the outcome of the war was already a foregone conclusion by then. That, and the variability of play, the uniqueness of objectives and associated modules, and the historical detail.

We hope that these more than make up for the limitations of the Free French faction itself. Until this latest patch, Free France had only a handful of units available; still not many, really. Thus, there are no core units (base units could not be purchased or upgraded as the campaign proceeded), nor specialisations or commanders because the game doesn't have any for Free France.

By the way, welcome back, GWAC (I know you don't like that acronym, but I like it! ). It's been a while.
