army breakpoint and BGs on flank march

Post by FOGwargames »

If the enemy has 12 BGs but 2 are on a flank march, is the army breakpoint calculated on the 10 on the table rather than on 12?
The situation in point was that the enemy flank march did not come on by the time I reached 10 points defeated of the enemy. The rules say that if the flank march comes on and a BG straggles then that is counted as 1 point; but no comment about if a flank march never arrives at all?
Anyone know the answer?

I do not have the rules in front of me but I believe the Army Breakpoint is calculated at the value on table until the flank march arrives. So it would be 10 in this example.

It is calculated on the original, including those on the FM

Unusual for me to manage that :-)

so if my opponent has 11 BGs and has 2 flank marches of 3 BGs each, this would make up over half of my opponents army on flank marches, with only 5 BGs on the table. If neither of the flank marches turn up then I cannot win without destroying all BGs on the table and the camp. I know it is an unusual situation but is this the case?

Had a Hun do it to me, a case of smash everything on table as quickly as possible. Chasing a LH around when one FM turned up and gave me something easier to catch and kill

It is the case. The problem with that strategy is that the 5 on table won't last very long.
