My opponent leads off each turn. As for the pace he is setting, I believe he is doing it quite well. He plays three turns or so every day - sometimes more, sometimes less. I think we'll finish Monday or early Tuesday.
He ususally does his turns at 0500 - 0800 UTC or so, which is midnight and later for me, so I'm often up late responding.
He's the perfect opponent. I hope my next opponents play in a similar style.
This being my first tournament, I'm happy to have him first. A great experience.

Yes, very odd, I have fewer points than my honorable opponent despite winning the map in 16 or so turns. Odd! Still very fun to play PvP!

I thought the game where I played as Germans finished early by a few rounds. The other game was bloody to the very end, poor Bialystok changing hands every few turns ;-)
Well played mate and GL in the next game!

Me is waiting it also. I liked this map much but sorrily my onnopnent moved 1 turn/day (and two days he moved some3/day) so it will be finished at about turn 12. I am on winning both map but I think this system wont be good here. I watxhed other tournament (Order of Battle) where all players who won by time got 75 points/map, so 150 in all. But the leader has some 280 point. The calculation would be more correct if all players, who won by time should get the points of the leader. It is not their fault that they opponent quitted the game or spended too much time. But I dont know where should I signal this?

So, first round ended...and I didnt get any more points cos game time-outed. Even ehen I moved between 6-7 hours all turn and my opponent waited some 15 (cos he moved always when I was sleeping, and he wasnt able to move all day just that one specific time. I could have moved before and after work). This way I got less points by winning both games then the ones who didint play. The system is very bad and useless.

This is my first Tournament and really enjoyed the first round even though I lost the combined score but learnt a lot about 1 v 1 battles. I read about other players disappointment of opponents not playing or playing slowly I was lucky and finished my game against article22 on Friday 25th.
Can I make a suggestion to the tournament organizers if opponents could communicate to agree on play time it would improve game enjoyment.
I look forward to the second round and thank you to the tournament organizers . also thank you to article22 for an enjoyable first round and would love to have a rematch any time cheers all

So I have just noticed that a bunch of people received 2000 points while others remain at 0 or near 0. Was that for getting the opponent to surrender etc? Just wanted to know what was the criteria for assigning a bunch of people with 0 points, as much points as lets say top 10 or 15 players have earned while others, who probably only played a few rounds (could have been their fault, could have been an absent opponent) remained way below that point?

Sorry if this is a stupid question but there is no sticky with rules in it and that move seemed radical enough to warrant a question ;-)

Shame there are no penalties for not playing

My first round opponent did not start until Thursday and then played one turn per day most days, then to add insult to this played his final turn right before the deadline, therefore manipulating the score, I play in the FOG tournaments and they penalize players who deliberately sabotage the game in the way, why not in this tournament. my opponent is a top player in the FOG tournaments so I know he knows the rules , so why do the organizers allow this , its absolute crap.

Yeah, I wondered about that, too. I just assumed that the players that received the 2000 points were being compensated for having opponents who quit playing and the players with 0 points were the quitters or stalled playing.
I dunno, 2000 points is a huge compensation; many players finished with 3/4 that total. And, like you, I fought hard (as did my opponent) and received scores not much higher than that.
The tournament rules state that players with a bye in the round will receive the maximum score, which seems to be 2000 points. The rules also state that players affected by an opponent who stalls so the game doesn't finish will get their scores adjusted. But 2000 points is a LOT of adjustment.

Yeah shame that for such a franchise the tourney rules are so damn lax and unprecise. I mean do not get me wrong, its about having fun but if tournaments/leagues are all about participation and not competition then just give everyone a gold medal/$100 store voucher just for taking part - you will see how quickly the organizers will change their mind ;-)

It is sad that in my new game it may pay more to just play a few rounds and if I don't do sufficiently well just quit until 5 minutes to deadline and get my sweet 2000 points - not only its a feasible alternative but it is something people will do and break other's fun in the process...

I do not remember for the first tournament, i guess they gave poor 200 pts for having an opponent none playing, what never give you an chance to win anything,...so for this it´s better, but after reading all what you wrote, i slowly think its better with a easy k.o. system....what makes it fair for everyone,....who is not playing is out,....and if someone do not play should be kicked out by blaming him!!! i guess via screenshoot it should be possible...(and when eh starts playing 5 min before deadline, a screen shoot is telling the truth)

I can imagine it is not easy to solve that all,...and of course it is annyoing...
but well
it´s just a game,....we should not forget!!!
I hope they will find a good way to solve that,...
Anyone has an idea how to?
( i know complaining is more fun than thinking in a solution)

Well, I, like you, am here for the competition. If I didn't want that, I would simply play against the game engine at the lowest difficulty. Then I could reset the game until until I found the result I want. Afterward I could kick back with a cigar and brandy and congratulate myself for 'a job well done'.
Pfft.
Sure, I want to win, but if I am playing against a superior foe and lose, he deserves the win and my congratulations. I won't stall or quit to rob him of what he deserves just as I wish he wouldn't do the same to me.
Still and all, it is only a game. If I lose, I shall learn from my mistakes and my opponent's skills so I might play better in the next tournament.
But I'll earn every point and make my opponent earn each of his. :)

I can think of only two ways you might solve your problem with your opponent exploiting the clock like that.
One, you might post a grievance with Admin. I'm sure Admin has game logs and it wouldn't take much for them to see what happened and take action accordingly. I wouldn't put much faith in that, though. Still, it's worth a try.
Me, I would be online during the half hour before the round finishes. The instant he finishes and you are able to continue, get in the game. I don't think Admin would pull the plug on you while you are still playing.
Good luck to you.

Hi, I received 2000 points and did just bought some troops and equipment. My opponent did nothings and had no point...Was not happy but no choice and they gave me 2000 points honestly hard to say if it is OK.

The first round was very sad. I spent a lot of time planning the game, but my opponent did nothing.

Now the map has been replaced with a new one and my awesome plan is useless.

It's a painful and demotivating experience. Even bonus points cannot compensate for this experience.

Perhaps it makes sense to add a zero round to the tournaments to qualify the participants. A round in which you just need to play the party to the end.

"Dimonikus post:" "Great-Start!!!"… into putting some promising ideas so as to 'invigorate/revitalize'... this 'disorientated-disorganized'... tournament marathon.

More ideas such as yours are required to bring the 'Multiplayer' sessions into a really meaningful experience. More of your 'Multiplayer' enthusiast comrades... need also to contribute their input... to make this a reality!.
