What specifically is the Matrix games connection?

Post by MrsWargamer »

Not that it's really my business, but, I DO like doing business with them, I buy their games routinely. I'm a big fan of digital download.

But the games you are releasing on the DS, well that's a physical item of course.
And as things are done often unique for this side of the pond, the question is, what is the current level of partnership with Slitherine over at Matrix Games?
I wouldn't bother to ask a seemingly odd question of a publisher, if it wasn't for the fact you currently sell Commander Europe at War through Matrix Games (unless I am totally missing out on some aspect of the process).

The reason I ask, is I would not mind being able to order my Slitherine creations through Matrix Games.
And as it seems that Slitherine is increasingly cornering the market for hand held wargaming, I am anticipating needing a better method of obtaining my Nintendo DS games from you guys.

Finding out you were doing a 3d turn based tactical wargame was cool to say the least.

Matrix are a very close business partner but the difficulty is that you need a US version to release in the US. opfficially you cant send PAL stock to NTSC countries even if there is no region coding so we need an official US publisher to manufacture nad release over there. Matrix are a PC only publisher so could not really do it. That's why for Great Empires we went with Valcon in the US who are an official Nintendo, Sony & Microsoft publisher.

Ahhh, yes I was wondering what the situation was with Matrix Games.

Well I guess I can manage the PC edition through them potentially later (for BBC Battle Academy).

Currently the only source this side of the pond I know of (that I feel comfortable with), is Chris of NWS

They do a lot of great deals for the wargaming crowd, and I know Chris to be a reliable dude (he also has a wide range of supporters in wargaming too).

But Chris must have his own creative source of supply. He's likely importing directly from you guys and defacto telling Nintendo to get stuffed in the process :)
To my knowledge, there is no fundemental change in ability to play the games from Europe to non European sources. I've confirmed this. I've played European games on my own Nintendo DS.
I don't think the Nintendo DS even has region limitations.

In my experience Pal only matters to an older type television.

If Valcon can do one game for you guys though, I would really like to ask they be employed to do further efforts (if that is possible).

We don't supply Chris - he wont tell us where he gets the stuff from but I'm sure its all legit stock - he's a good guy.

DSi games will be region coded, PSP is not as yet. All home consoles are region coded.
