Re: Any questions?
I've looked at the players digital league guide post and I cannot find information about the basic structure of the tournament. For example, top 2 players of each division advance to a single-elimination round? Is that single elimination round best 2 out of 3? I'm certain all this information is spelled out somewhere because you are so well organized, I'm just not finding the right post. Can you please point me in the right direction?
Thanks so much!!

Re: Any questions?
It is just a basic league, apart from the Themed Event. Players complete their 9 or 10 games and we get a final table. The top player is always automatically promoted and any player who gets 7 wins or more and doesn't come top is a candidate for "discretionary promotion" and will quite often go up as well. Similarly, at the bottom of the table, the very bottom player is always relegated and any player who wins 2 games or less and does not come bottom is considered for discretionary relegation. This happens rather less often than discretionary promotions as there is a longer term tendency for regular players in the tournament to drift upwards as some top players do not return for another season.CaptainPunka wrote: ↑Mon Jun 21, 2021 4:57 pm I've looked at the players digital league guide post and I cannot find information about the basic structure of the tournament. If you look at the archive thread you can trace the progress of players over a number of seasons . . .

Warg1 - Pictish 210 AD-476 AD with Scots-Irish 50 BC-476 AD allies (1200) defeats deeter - Roman 24-196 AD (1600) 61 - 51
Thanks for a great game deeter...that hung in the balance for a long time and was probably only saved by all those routers rallying and the late chariot flourish.

kraff (Sword Brethren 1204-1237 AD with Baltic Tribes 1050-1283 AD allies) defeated Warg1 (English 1155-1271 AD with Scot 1155-1161 AD allies): 40-10.
I was very lucky to rout a few opposing units, and that in turn caused some disruptions and fragmentations among Warg1's troops, giving me a relatively quick win. Thank you for the game, Warg1.

Thanks for a good game. It was a demolition derby where we each destroyed the others left flank but in the end the Bosporans were able to reposition faster than the Pontics.

First Time Control check this Sunday 27/6 . . .
Same procedure as normal. I will be looking at players who have not completed one match in each section that they have entered. Players in the Themed Event are exempt, as are players who have joined the tournament after the start as reserves.

Re: First Time Control check this Sunday 27/6 . . .
I have done a fairly complete check this morning and the situation overall is not too bad at all. There are a number of players with 0's against their name who are exempt because of the Themed Event, or they have joined as a reserve after the starting date of the tournament. But there are a couple of players who look like they are sitting in the tournament not doing much so I will contact them first. And there are quite a few other players who have entered 3 or 4 sections this time and have not posted a result yet in 1 of those sections. But because they have posted more than 1 result in the other sections then they will get a "pass" on this check. For example, one player has entered 5 sections and has not yet posted a result in just 1 section. But because he has posted 10 results in the other 4 sections then that is easily enough, as I am looking for 5 results across 5 sections from him and he has actually posted 5 more than that in total.
