Failed to send the game to the server
Failed to send the game to the server
I've been getting this error since this afternoon. Is there something wrong with PBEM servers? I've just lost a tournament battle, this is the last turn, and I can't upload it, meaning my opponent can't get his victory points updated.

Re: Failed to send the game to the server
I don't know whether the server was down when you tried before, but it is working now. Please try again.

Re: Failed to send the game to the server
It still doesn't work, unfortunately. I'm getting the same feedback, "Failed to send the game to the server" followed by "Game has failed to send multiple times".

Re: Failed to send the game to the server
Well the server isn't down currently, so there must be some other cause.
Is this game 1 or game 2? According to the tournament score page, you already lost game 1, giving a final score of 97:3 to your opponent. So the save for that game has in fact gone through.
If that is the game you are referring to, it has already gone through to the server as completed, so the server won't accept further attempts to save it. (This is an issue which we are still trying to solve - turns that have in fact been saved on the server but the client program thinks they haven't).
If it is Game 2, then there may be a problem.
Have you got any other games on the go? If not, you could create a challenge, accept it yourself (the first time you do this you will get an advisory message, so you may have to accept it twice), then see if that game will save turns correctly.
If it does, and the other doesn't, then perhaps the data is corrupted. If the new game won't save either, then I suggest emailing support@slitherine.co.uk

Re: Failed to send the game to the server
Yes, that's game 2. I lost game 1 and that has already been recorded, yes. I'm about to lose game 2 as well. In fact it's only a matter of replaying my opponent's turn and watch my troops collapse. I'm already getting "you are defeated" popup, but I just can't send the data to the server.
I created a challenge, as you suggested, and played a few turns - there is no problem with saving and sending the data to the server.

Re: Failed to send the game to the server
Unfortunately therefore, it seems like there is something wrong with the data in Game 2 that is preventing the turn from uploading - the data may be corrupted. Unfortunately this isn't something we could identify by looking at the files.kraff wrote: ↑Thu May 27, 2021 11:15 am Yes, that's game 2. I lost game 1 and that has already been recorded, yes. What are the rout % at the point where you are attempting to save the turn?

Re: Failed to send the game to the server
What about deleting saved game from my local host, replaying the turn and then sending it again? Perhaps it somehow got corrupted between downloading and uploading?
About the score, my opponent won 45-18. I'm attaching a screenshot as a proof.

Re: Failed to send the game to the server
Not sure what you mean by this. The game instance is not stored on your computer. I assume you have already tried using Task Manager to close the game and replay the turn - which will redownload it from the server.
If not, then you should do so.
There is a size limit, not sure what it is. I usually load them into paint.net and resave them at a lower fidelity.About the score, my opponent won 45-18. I'm attaching a screenshot as a proof.
EDIT: Apparently, I can't attach a screenshot. Are there any limitations or something?

I did restart the game (and even my computer) a few times since yesterday. That was the first thing that came to my mind, that maybe something's wrong with connection between my Steam and Slitherines server.
Indeed, thank you for pointing this out. I attached the screenshot to my previous post.rbodleyscott wrote: ↑Thu May 27, 2021 12:07 pmThere is a size limit, not sure what it is. I usually load them into paint.net and resave them at a lower fidelity.

I am not sure whether the scores can safely be adjusted in a tournament, but if we can safely do so, would you agree that the final tournament score should have been 87:18 ? (60+27: 18)

Re: Failed to send the game to the server
Round 3 of the Rome Against the World tournament has ended today and I got a popup telling me I got a penalty because I didn't play enough turns. My opponent also hasn't got his well deserved points, he's got 75 from timeout that happen only because there is a bug and saved game file got somehow corrupted on the server.
Will the result of my game against w2512494748 be corrected?

I don't know whether it is safe for us to do so. I have emailed the PBEM controller again, and am awaiting a response.kraff wrote: ↑Mon Jun 07, 2021 1:12 pm Round 3 of the Rome Against the World tournament has ended today and I got a popup telling me I got a penalty because I didn't play enough turns.
